Shard of everburning life drop in RSP broken?

Gregor

Dalayan Beginner
Hello all,

I was woundering if the shard of everburning life drop off the fire giants in RSP is broken?? I have spent the last 8 days straight killing well over 40 fire giants w/o one single everburning drop yet. I have asked many many other clerics how long it took them to complete this quest and most all of them quoted me 30 hours for the entire quest. That included all the factioning and getting all their drops. Well to make a very long and boring story short and to the point I have spent well over double just on this drop alone.

I'm a casual player now and i really dont have the stomach to camp for one drop much longer. At this rate it seems it's going to take well over 100 hours just for one stupid drop. I seriously doubt this was intended or somehow the everburning drop part is broken.

It's bad enough all the giants have placeholders on 30 minute timers. Usually I only get 1 giant per 2 hours to spawn and that in itself is a bit excessive...

Can someone please look into this before i give up all together and just make a wizard or another character.

Thanks for your time..

Trust me, you're not alone.

I've seen other people camp for weeks and weeks and not get one, but others go their first day and get theirs.

Luckily, I got mine quick with Draxx pulling basically the whole zone and us killing everything and getting a bunch of Giant pops.

It's really the RNG hating on you and not giving up the shard, but have trust, it does indeed exist. It just may take forever.

Honestly, the random number generator is probably just being very upset at you. Is it a long camp? Yeah. Is it a rare drop off a rare spawn? Yeah. But it's all random and you're just getting the short end of the stick. I got mine off the first giant we found (swear to god, of course there was a minor issue with that, but I'm STILL ashamed of that so you know...) and I've quite frequently seen people (non-clerics) who link the shard in ooc going "what's this for?!".

It drops, it just isn't dropping for YOU.

It took me about 70 hours to get the whole lifeward considering i did the MQ part 1-4 so i could go to Erimal and i spent about 30 hours alone on the Fire Giant part. Trust me it takes tons of time. But then again the shield is awsome and you learn to aprisiate the item more when you spend alot of time on it =)

Its all a question of luck imho, just like with the Shield of Freeport. Try going for Sundust in EC, originally i did like 50-60 aa's to get my dust and now it drops like all time when i am there :(

:(

I know it drops hell there are clerics running around with Lifeward shields. Why though on gods green earth does the quest require you to practically spend your entire life on one single drop. I remember camping many many many items on live and I have yet to even come close to spending this much time on one single drop.

If I was actually doing this for myself and my life revolved around this game then i can understand putting in that much time. lets face it though i'm a casual player who doesn't really care if I get the shield or not. I'm NOT doing this for myself.... There are plenty of shields in this game that takes 1 hour tops on a raid to get. The stats and ac wise makes lifeward look like chump change.

The only reason I'm wasting my life away on this one drop is for my guild... Nothing more and nothing less. There will come a time that I say screw this it's not worth it and just raid for a much better shield that takes less then 2 hours to get opposed to 60+ hours for 1 of 6 drops..

Of corse I'm ranting I'm just sick of this zone and really sick of camping for one item that frankly isn't really wort it.

We have been raiding..

That still has nothing to do with this one single drop taking much much longer then is even necessary.

Besides when i go raiding with the guild it's not about the loots it's about the fun that i have doing it. This is about as far from fun as i emagine i have ever experienced in this game to date.

Some old school clerics have Lifeward version quest 1 then the quest disapered for a while and 8 monts ? ago it was implanted again.

Well im still useing Lifeward and im raiding Thaz and the shield is so worth it. You will get burned out to medd up to full mana and start rezzing ppl in the raid and then medd up again and do the rest.

I know bro that is the only reason I am still doing this. If I was just out for a cool looking shield I would have said screw this a long time ago. I remember back in live before the res stick how long it takes to res a wiped raid w/o one. Thats why i am suffering through this impossible drop right now.

Ohh btw just killed another two and you guessed it no drop yet. :what:

Well after another solid 8 hours of trying yet again today I logged off w/o the everburning life drop. I think I'm going to try one more time for another solid 8 hours. If I don't get the drop by then I'll be pushing 72+ hours of camping this one piece.

If I log off w/o it again I wont be bothered camping for that crap any longer. I'll just go raid the king in the giant city and get a much better shield then lifeward. I'll let another cleric in our guild spend the over 100+ hours it seems to take for one clicky effect shield with semi ok stats.

Go after the clr Thurg piece I suppose for rez clicky. Xardon spent months doing lifeward. Granted he wasn't remotely into it much at all and I don't think he was even there when the stupid piece dropped. Clerics use the shield their entire careers apparently. Exodus/Steel/Ruin/you name it high end guilds STILL use clr lifeward. Apparently there isn't better out there or they just rather keep lifeward equipped in public places. Seeing as all of them has lifeward equipped in their fomelos atm makes me go with the former.

Bottom line there is not a better shield for a cleric and it isn't even THAT hard to complete. It's just time consuming. SHM Yaralith quest for their mask isn't any better and is probably worse than lifeward. They have to farm sun peaks the same as clerics but for a different drop. You have to clear everything to pop the right mobs that drop the item you need. I've seen clerics go in and get the drop in one kill, and I've seen it take them 100 hours. It's the "hard" part of the quest I believe and if you get it done, you might as well already have the lifeward cause it's a done deal after you do the easy stuff.

I suggest you find a druid/rng box if you don't have one to track. Otherwise it will take a ton of time longer than going at it blind.

I believe the drop rate is upped for classes who cannot use the item. I believe I have had 2 rot while I was kiting in RSP. Eep.

I sugest that you do that better and faster with a bard tracking and running around with bard speed.

King Rymaz shield will get nerfed soon anyways.

and there are better shield out there for clrs just fomelo Thoias , Chaa , Awardis. But they all are high end raid places afaik.

Sometimes drops suck, there should be logs of me raging in /gu for about a week while trying to get my stupid piece for the rod of living fire quest from sorc lab. Every time I left that goddanm place some level 50 would link my drop in ooc wondering "wut's dis do" and I'd smash my face into my keyboard....

Yeah for my cleric this piece was pretty bad ... took me a few months to get because after farming for 8 hours I didn't want to go there again for weeks. But it still was not as bad as the damn Pegasus cloak from Quillmane for the Magician Epic on live, I almost hung myself during that time.

Well after 72+ hours of camping RSP and with the help of Latten I finally got my piece!

Im so happy I was almost shaking when i finally got it.

Mad props to Latten for the help THANKS BRO your the MAN!

Long camps can be extremely frustrating at times, but it does make the reward sweeter when you finally get it.

Grats.
