Shaman and Mage duo?

I was wondering if this would work. On live I had a Shaman, Monk and SK. I tried the SK first but found them to be a bit blah. The pets just don't stack up here like they do on live.

So I want to try something else. I have never played a Mage. Would that combo work? Mage should be able to tank with his pet and Shaman will be there for all the utility and DoTs.

Or would I need to go Shaman/Monk so that I could split in dungeons? Or can Mage split too?

Mage/Shaman can work very well together especially since the shaman can slow and heal and you don't have to rely on the bad pet heals for the mage. Mage pet can tank more than one mob at a time if you do it right. With slows it would be even easier. Shaman gets a pet starting at 34 and while nowhere near the tank a mage pet is, they can offtank for a time.

the only problem you might have is single pulling some areas, but with root you shoudl be able to bypass that well enough given enough room.

Should be doable.. and <3 shaman buffs on pets!

Seems like a good plan, isn't. Here is why.

1) Mage will need to med. You're waiting anyways, nigh infinite mana on the shaman has little point.
2) Waterpet will already take care of a tiny slow, and with a mage you are aiming to burn it fast, decreasing a bit the utility of slow.
3) Healing power lowest of the 3 priests.
4) You have dps in abundance. What you lack is healing. Getting the gimpest healer in terms of amount, thus is not a plan.
5) The stat buffs are negligible eventually on the mage themselves, focus will eventually also be unused by the mage, and you will be rocking out the WoN line. Thus in a buff situation you will be better off with a druid (gimpy halfassed aego (natures preservation) & resists or cleric (aego line, #1 petbuff)
6) Lack of groupheals. As rains are your only form of non gimp as fuck dps (as with dd's rangers, monks, rogues, and actually damn near anything will outdps you), these are extremely useful.
7) Lack of hots. Hots are amazing for pets. End of story.
8) 0 types of pacify. You can use this to single pull with your pet. Druids get harmony, which sucks.

You really want to go with either cleric or druid.

Thanks.

Blah I don't like Druid's and never played a Cleric, so I will give that a try.
