I would like to request something I find lackluster with Necromancers - an actual buff for a group / raid.
So far the only spell a necro can cast for some form of usefulness is the well known DMF , unique in its kind, but with several problems that make it situational - levitation in many zones forbidden that you won't get the poison resist in, the enduring breath being discarded in many fights that require it, the druid Flight of Eagles that will obviously be prefered for basic travelling will overwrite it...
I know necromancers aren't suppose to be buff kings and might rather keep their stuff to them. I still do believe we could use some kind of beneficial spell for a group, maybe a raid - a minor one, but that could be used in all places.
I've thought it a bit regarding the spells we already use and the mechanics involved in SoD's necromancy. I found that it could be some kind of upgrade to Vampiric Embrace (24hp lifetap melee proc) which we get at level 8 and does not evolve afterwards. This would be a spell that rivals Wizard's Blades of War, so obviously it should be lower - I was thinking betwen strike of Poison/Scourge and Magi , being a lifetap around the level of Shroud of the Death (55 SK self lifetap proc), possibly with a little mana drain component - 65hp 25mana for example.
Now I foresee this will be seen as giving too much to a class that already has a lot, I anticipated by making this an illusion more like lvl 55 Shroud of the Undeath for SK's (again bringing stacking issues to a spell) that could be a lich-like system, with -hp +mana - I supposed the base of SK's Deathly Temptation (-6hp +6mana) or Nec's Call to Bones (-8 hp +8 mana) would fit, as it is already attainable through clickies.
This would bring more a flavor of the necro making his undead army on the field ( did I watch Game of Thrones too much last night ? maybe so) .
To be fair, SK's are the only casting class with zero beneficial spell for the crowd. I was thinking to have a lower version based on Allure of Death (-4hp +4mana) with a lower lifetap (45hp 15mana) - maybe even not granting an illusion ?
SK's would still have much better alternatives for themselves, and necros could have a better one for themselves than the current low-level spell and play the ghetto wizard when one is not around.
I know there is no real reason to implement this and there's already much work on the plate for devs. Just wanted to see how this idea could be considered. All other classes have at least one spell they can bestow to the crowd . Undead illusions + taps really sound like love we would spread to the world !
