server down?

yea so for about 2 hours now whenever i log to server select screen WR is missing whats going on ;/

#1) how is the server being down, with no explanation a trivial matter?

#2) You don't want to "waste your time on trivial matters" ie keeping us informed of what is going on the server we play on and donate to? Pardon me... :eek:

If you want accurate information on why the server is down for an amount like 8 hours, you can come to IRC. It's not that hard. In general, if you want fast, accurate information, go to IRC. We can't clutter up the forums with every reboot and downtime.

Speaking of which, are you even a donator, or are you just trying to appeal to emotion?

Pookie, I mean, Melwin, buddy, we just want a simple post reading "the server is coming up at x" where "x" is the amount of time, that's all ;)
 
Yeah but they don't give out ETAs because they're inaccurate and people bitch when they aren't met.

Check IRC.

Seriously I would rather the developers code their asses off and get the server up 5 minutes earlier then bother making a post listing all the shit they're doing and how long they think it MIGHT take.
 
IRC is easy to get - its easy to use - it works great

if you dont want to put forth that little effort to know whats going on with the server. why should the devs post it here? they inform us in the irc already.

I don't have IRC. I don't know how to work IRC. I have never tried. I don't want to. I don't see why I should have to go to another medium to get information that your MAIN SITE doesn't have. It doesn't even say on the main site that IRC is the place to go for info like that. It just offers a link to the channel.

No Melwin, I am not yet a donator. for a few reasons.
1. I have barely played the game for a month
2. I am currently unemployed (18 y/o) I have no money to give you.

I am also not trying to raise 'emotion' in people. I'm trying to illustrate that this is a service that people are willing to pay for, So why are you acting so piss-antish and SoE like?

Maybe I'm just bitter, i've been overwhelmingly happy with the GMs on every other issue.
 
Well you don't use IRC. Neither do I. But its pretty easy to set up and make a shortcut right next to WR on your desktop and every time you log in ALL YOUR FAVORITE MODS ARE THERE WAITING JUST A KEYSTROKE AWAY!


Seriously its just the way they do it. But going into IRC won't tell you when you can play again (although you can play again fyi). If you think such a service should be offered... offer it :) log into irc and make a quick post when the server is back up. I think that would be great!

I think you're just bitter.

Installing mIRC via a self-explaining installer like what comes with every other Windows program in existence, then clicking on the link we've set up for you is not what I would call the epitome of complexity. Maybe I'm just an optimist.

Although, admittedly, I do owe you an apology for my initial response. I was unnecessarily rude.

And you're right, IRC is easy to work.
 
We patch too often to clutter up the boards or site with it, really. And we don't give ETAs.
 
Server down to me means:

1. GMs working hard to fix issues we complain about when in reality "they dont have to"

2. An opportunity for me to actually drag myself away from the game and do work around the house that my wife beats me for ;)

3. I know eventually, it will be up, everything will be okay and I wont die from being away from game for a few hours. :p


4. I downloaded mIRC, not that difficult to use (even though Im from Oklahoma). Im not a pro at it but I can generally figure out what is going on if I really need to know.

Although I myself wouldnt mind if the GM's posted an occasional link during these down times to Swedish Bikini Models :)
