Rogue banker?

Still goes against the inconvenient nature of heat. Too much heat in one city and you just take the MoP to another. It's not as if it's some sort of trek to another city

Exactly.

You could couple it with making heat take longer to dissipate, to prevent it from making theivery too easy. I just think that "well the fuzz is after me in this town, I better move to this other town" makes a lot of sense as a game mechanic. You could probably tie it to faction easily enough (ie heat gets added with a faction tag from the npc that saw you and added the heat).

edit: That also gives rogues the option of never stealing from town Y and using it as a kind of safe haven, which is equally rad.

tbh I actually like the idea.

I'd be a rediculous ammount of work for zero actual gain, but It'd be cool for the rogues to have a Cache of Stolen Goods located in their guild halls that functioned as a seperate banking system.

Dunno. Like you said its never going to happen, but I think it'd add some flavor.

:toot:

I agree with TM here

if you kill someone in one city and go 20 miles to another city.... do you really feel safe? are the cops(guards) going to stop at just looking into 1 city? generally word is spread around.. of course in SoD word spreads a whole lot faster, not to mention they dont even have phones!(or do they?)
i think if rogs build up enough heat to be kos they need to hide out... yea... outside of towns... in my 51 levels ive only gone kos 3-4 times... mostly because i did the rog hood quest part where u pickpocket that guy near the docks with a pickpocket of like 50=/ when it comes to getting in houses and whatnot... if ur getting kos off that just stop stealing because you suck at it=/ and to be honest... we should be happy heat fades.. and its not faction hits.... because i think generally things of stealing and whatnot are not just forgotten in a day or 2=/ by all means if you would like heat to be changed to faction hits do indeed give rogs a place to hide out or a rog banker... till then i think the way it works is pretty good.. theres bonus.. theres negative.. they are for the most part pretty balanced...

also, i never remember hearing/reading/seeing about rogs having personal banks specialialy for rogs=/ fences to get rid of items.. but no bankers=/ usually they just have their own hideout to store items and money....

Newport, Athica, and Erudin are in no way close, they are all on different continents so word would not spread that fast. Also it isn't just the idea of the rogue banker helping when you have to much heat, what is wrong with adding another roleplaying aspect to the game? Everyone just wants new gear and items fixed like the wis raised on item "X" from 6 to 7 or str on item "Y" from 5 to 6, i mean why not add things that push the roleplaying side of the MMOPRG instead of the elitist side who just want better gear and new mobs to slaughter in two seconds?

This is because it doesn't really fit into any sort of roleplay logic other than "you would think they would have one"
I don't understand why you think the rogues guild would be able to infiltrate the "banking coalition" and supply its members with a bank when they are too hot to bank normally. If it were that easy they would just... rob the bank :psyduck:

This would be like asking for tradeskill vendors and all tradeskill locations being available in the rogue guild for when you get heat, and i definitely do not see that happening.

Why is there an evil banker then? No one is KoS in Newport and they chose to take actions that would lead them to be KoS and still have a banker to go to. Whatever it is better to just drop it, its obviously more important to suggest things for the super end game that affect 3% of the population.

If your money is transfered instantly then why would a message not be transfered instantly?
The way for the bank to make sense in reality with banking, is that the banks have a ledger where they know that you have a sum of money in another bank. So they will loan you the money, and request for that bank to send over your funds for you removing them from the bank you took funds from.

Ok we're getting a little off-topic here. There is a needed risk for the reward. Not being able to bank is definitely one of them. And yes, it really is too easy to get to another bank to make it just in the city where the heat was acquired.

That could pretty easily be offset by making the heat in each city last longer, though.

im not sure u even read my post at all.

and i dont see any roleplaying aspect into it.. rogs are thieves.. they steal.. not bank.. they have fences to get money for items.. they hire people to change currency... go hire someone to go exchange ur copper to silver or whatever... if its putting it in thats such a big deal then again, dont get caught stealing... you dont really get luxury of a banking account when... you rob the bank.... as for how fast word travels. i explained it goes a bit faster here.. but trying to argue that its roleplaying without any real thing other than "omg its roleplaying not give me mobs im greedy".... its really not roleplaying imo=/ its u want a banker... and as for bankers and money and everything.. ever consider items? every banker has ur exact items.. some fast transfer time? and how did they know you would go from SNP to thurgadin? OMG! they are now psychic.. thats not roleplaying at all=/ they cheat.. ban bankers imo.
with city to city idea.. its a good stab.. but really.. i think if you want to go roleplaying crazy... faction hits is where it should be.... lets all be happy now yay.
and the deal with evil banker was explain before. please read the entire thread. its still small..

Yeah, I bet the reason you want a rogue banker is for "roleplaying" as opposed to say "convenience".

How about I make heat never dissipate? Guards just forgetting about criminal past isn't very realistic, is it now? Stop trying to apply realism to game mechanics, you have to sacrifice some realism for playability.
