Robert Grayes wants a painting

So I am working on this quest, given out in N Newport. I have the paintbrush (from Robert) and the canvas and the oil. The canvas is a two slot container, so I put in the oil and the paintbrush and hit "combine" and I get the "these items do not combine in this container type" message.

Am I missing something?

Yea, you have to use the oil to make paint. I believe you need 2 pieces of Enchanted Ice from some mobs in the Great Divide. They're in a tunnel but I can't remember what they're called right now. Believe you need something else too, sorry it's been a while, but the merchant in Thurgadin who sold you the oil makes it into the paint you need.
