This is a picture of me at work. The animal is a huge Labrador that came in on triage on the overnight shift. Massive bite wound that got seriously infected. That big, necrotic meat flap near my face smelled terrible. Shitty camera phone picture.
 
Well, the owners claimed they took the dog to a local vet and the vet just gave some antibiotics. This dog needed to go to surgery and have a lot of the wound debrided and some of the necrotic tissue removed. His recovery from this would have been a long time. Would have needed daily wet to dry bandages. The expense would have been really high. They ended up euthanizing the dog.
 
Aww that's sad, as much as I don't really like dogs all that well, it still makes me feel bad to see any animal in that sort of condition, I couldn't be a vet or work at an animal shelter AT ALL. And no, I'm not some PETA loon or a member of ALF...in fact I despise those organizations...I just have a soft place for animals I guess.

Sorry to be off topic, but I admire someone who works to help animals, I myself just couldn't stomach that. Not due to the gore or blood or anything, but the fact that you see them suffer, often due to elements beyond their control and they just don't UNDERSTAND why they are hurting. Plus euthanizing animals wouldn't be my cup of joe either lol.
