Revamp Unused Content

Titanas

Dalayan Elder
I wanted to bring to light 2 zones I think could use a real Revamp. Update Loot and make it more consistant as well as fights and the new lore behind the zone.

Dread Fang Spire
This zone has a really nice level of progression about it. In its current state it is not really used for its intended purpose. I think DFS could be revamped into a new T1-3 Raid zone With a progressive quest line/story.

New Theme
A tower taken over by an even more chaotic evil wiz. This zone could eather House Quests for evil and good chars. Main focus of these quests is just good / evil faction hits with mild rewards gear along the lines of 40/40
The old ruler of DFS has been removed by a new power to conduct his experiments.

Quests
Returning a ring to a tortured prisoner's loved ones.
Showing mercy to a slayen foe.

Mob's
Dopplgangers (SP) Mimic their highest agro class (WAR=Damage reduction PAL= Heal/blinds ect..
Constructs (Magic/Melee absorb swap
Risen Undead swarms
Abominations WW
Test Subjects Random AOE/s
Elementals

Bosses
The Wall (slowly crushes the raid)
Remains (Independant arms and limbs that attack the raid)
Arch Mage (summons adds TP's aroundect)

Loot|
Basic Watered Down loot (WAR,SK,PAL,) (CLR DRU SHM) (ROGUE RANGER
All old Plagues weps will be held by trash. Old Named loot will drop from trash very rarely. New Tier 1-3 Loot will drop with some where around +40 hp/mana - +70 hp/mana . 1 Over tier itemized item from each boss (Stats that are perfectly itemized for 1 particular class IE 30ac 100hp Bracer or what ever)

My Vision
I'd like to see this zone have a considerable amount of tank loots. There is a Giant Hole in tank gear progression that is very hard for tanks to gear up without being leaching Gear till they can hold their own.

More to come leaving work now Peace

Loot|Basic Watered Down loot

Awesome zone idea, however, the 'watered down loot' thing and 'one over tier item per boss' is the same song and dance that we have seen. I would rather the devs use their time to revamp content already in game by improving the gear that drops and spreading quest drops to other raid zones(Man, I remember doing those shitty worms in Nightmare for Sema's Vah - f that). I remember going to Plane of Air(I cannot remember the zone name exactly) with a pug and almost everything rotted. People only went for relics and I think Vah(?) quest items. The content is there and the content was absolutely amazing to play through, but the gear isn't on par with Ikisith droppables.

I think Dreadfang would make a great xp zone honestly. Just tie each floor's respawn timer to whether or not the boss of the floor is up. No boss? Faster respawn so people can grind out xp in the zone when no boss is up. Honestly it's a fun zone to xp in with a lot of variety in the mobs, it's just too bad that the respawn is so slow. It could honestly support multiple groups (from level 45 on the bottom floor to 65+ on the top floor) in there just doing some xp.

As it is now, the bottom floor is decent xp at 45-55 or so but the rest respawns too slow for any more than one group to mow through it.

Good way to breathe some life into the zone and it requires minimal amount of work. People don't always pick zones based on named loots. Sometimes people just want to grind out xp to improve their characters.

You wouldn't have to change it from a T1 raid zone either, but it would have a dual role as a viable xp spot for 60+ characters as well.

DFS was supposed to be revamped before. It was even taken down for weeks. The project was aborted.

I wouldn't mind seeing it revamped, but I don't really see the point of making a new tier 1-3 raid zone. It basically already is tier 1-2 and that's sort of the problem. Not much incentive even for new players to do low tier stuff because you can buy better items.

I used to love raiding this place in the olden days. Assuming it's the same zone, we used to raid it with a tier 0 guild originally (which mostly just wiped), and then later on with a stronger guild. It was always quite tough and fun. With these kinds of places, I personally think it might be worth just re-doing all the loot, but keeping everything else the same. The mobs and the encounters and stuff, all seem pretty good already? If so, just make the loot more in line with modern standards to hopefully make the zone more popular again. That's imho anyway.

A lot of places could probably use a revamp but the problem is finding people to revamp them. The coding side of things can be frustrating plus you need the inspiration to make it cool.

Heartland Undercaverns is just a depressing zone on multiple fronts.

Changes like this are not only needed but they are an investment. There is a lot of really good content in the game but what about new players that don't play long enough to get there. Yeah the Zone is considered tier 0. but I'm talking a legit low tier zone that needs a full balanced raid force multiple tanks healers CC resists and decent dps. Just like the encounters on higher tiers make it complex require skill and be rewarding.

A lot of places could probably use a revamp but keeping track of all the quest drops and maybe droppables and making sure they end up on stuff of comparable difficulty is a headache. If it were just a matter of wiping the zone and making up new content it wouldn't be so bad...

For example: I've thought miel c could use more love since like 2/3 of the zone is totally irrelevant these days but there's so much quest stuff crammed in there it's hopeless.

A total revamp is always tough because of this. Tougher than building a zone from scratch really.

I used to do some Development on an old M59 server. What I did, and it seemed to work, was just add a few new mobs here and there into to spawn tables. So, instead of the boss spawning 1 in 3 and PHs spawning the other two, Spawns would be like, 1 and 2 = Old boss, 3= new boss, 4,5,6,7 = PHs.

Dunno if that kind of thing is possible in SoD but its a good way to revamp a zone without really revamping it

I would assume its not much more complex then adjusting the curent mobs Name,Skin,Stats,Abilities,EXP,Loot add in new items. I would even volinteer where I could to do a project like this. I've come up with things like this all the time I've made several 2D RPG games as well as been DM for DnD for many many hours.
I just do not know this engines format. I know how the IF/THEN statements work with questing and such. If you would like I can break the entire zone down to areas monster named, zone theme, loot, quests log/text . I can even get my guild to beta test the zone.

I'll work on puting something together for dev position but I don't know if I have the time outside of a idealist to do it.

Very true. Some zones that I think would be neat to revamp are ones that have a ton of things dropping in them for like CoI/Blackscale/Siver Crown, or else Deity stuff, even Thurgadin and Vah, to some extent. Make one change here and you need to make 12 changes to other stuff in order for it to fit together. A lot of classic zones have quest stuff built very deeply into them.

I thought it would be neat to redo some of MielechC and like tell a story of some Froglok lore and stuff (that Racial Histories book didn't have any info on Frogs, to my knowledge). Also Kaladim would be a nice target for some alterations (if not for all the quest stuff in there too).
