Request for removal of "nuke" spells/traps from MoP

I love the MoP, however as of lately to randomly be killed in the MoP because of one of the traps/spells is just frustrating. :dumbsad:

The of the spells reads: "You feel your vitality seep away".
I assumed its a DoT, because the past few times it has never killed me, just shaven off little bits of health.
For my first time, at level 49, how does a spell like that just instantly wipe out the remaining 36% of my hp, and push me into -10%? :psyduck: (I have about 1812 hp, so that little nuke did about 650-830 dmg [36%-46%])

I totally get a gradual poisoning/DoT that would dissuade users from camping out in the MoP - not a problem, brilliant idea if you ask me.

I feel as though a NUKE (especially when I was running through, and hadn't stopped) is a quite excessive !

I wonder - how many of you out there have been killed while running through MoP?

On a side note: As a Gold donator I have the Boots of the Gold Donator, will those ever be allowed to used inside MoP? - because if I could outrun the nuke if its here to stay, that would atleast give me a fighting chance.

The MoP is SUPPOSED to be unsafe, it's not intended to be a replacement for completing gate neck quests or getting ported by druids and wizards.

The nuke effect takes away 50% of your base HP, so zoning into the MOP at 100% will make sure you survive at least one, you can take two in a trip if you have enough regen.

*nods* I understand its supposed to be "unsafe" but 50% is a bit excessive, especially when you cant do anything to speed up getting out of the MoP to reduce the risks!

Unless it was changed, the nuke does 75% of your HP and Mana, or at least it always has for me.

75%!? Even on my best day of regen, couldn't take 2 hits. That really sucks.
Thats Why i think it should be a DoT as opposed to a nuke, because you cant heal inside the MoP (besides bandaging which would increase your risk for hitting a spell/trap), and if it was a DoT you could reasonably escape and get healing from a youself/healer/friend/etc.

75% for me as well, so if I get hit with another its basicly lights out.

What really botheres me is when you get Portal snared 3 times while just running between zone in and Athica :(

For a zone they dont want us hanging around in portal snare seems really counter productive. If anything everyone should be hit with Portal Speed as soon as they zone in to help get them out of the zone.

You see, I don't mind a DoT, or Snare/DoT (cause, what are they going to do - DoT you at 2x rate if two happen to stack? :p), Haste/DoT.

I love the idea of being able to Portal Speed and just get in and out, but they have to make the game somewhat difficult for us (hence DoT/Snare), we can't always have a gold spoon (we got haste, that's our silver). :D

But yeah, I've been Snare/Snare/Haste and Nuke/Snare in one trip from Zone to Starfall - it's annoying as hell to get one after the other.
Its like "Goddamn, I can't just FD and make the mean old MoP Spells go away - Nope.".

If you don't like the possibility of being extremely unlucky and dieing due to the drain, don't use the mop. The nuke is 75% and if you can outregen this, you are basically in the mop far too long or one very twink lowbie.

long long ago, there was no mop. you ran for 45 minutes to get to the zone you wanted.

now, you die once every 30 mops.

i think its a fair trade

You can't cast spells, but you can bind wound in MoP. I always bind wounds when hit by that nuke, and I only died once because of two nukes way too close to each other. Bind wounds saved my ass a time or two.

Random traps is fine by me, but why is it my SoW always gets dispelled? A random dispel trap sounds fine but don't make it a static dispel that happens as soon as you zone.

It's an indoor zone. Only bard speed & the portal speed buff work in there to my knowledge.

Btw people leave apart that you can get lucky, and have the speed buff that makes you arrive to your destination even faster.

Anyone ever been TL'd to the top of the zone, then fell? I seem to remember that happening a couple times when I first started. Splatted my new toons pretty good. Not sure if it was a bug or intended, since it hasn't happened since.

Gets on my nerves too. But it's still a hell of a lot better than running/taking the boat/hailing a taxi (begging a dru/wiz)

You mean speed of the wind

It's a huge benefit. There should be some risk. Though I will
admit that being denied on occasion can be frustrating.

Dang I wish I could have experienced the game when this was the case. I really dislike the way MoP fits in the game but that is just me I guess. It feels out of place and like it doesn't belong. I am just weird. : P I like things to feel like a cohesive world.

I would have much preferred npc teleporting wizards that make you pay for a port to select places. It would have fit in much better to the EQ world.

MoP is about the only thing though that takes me out of immersion in this game. It is a wonderful server.

You're welcome to pretend the MoP doesn't exist and never use it, but I can't imagine why you would want to.

You wish you could have experienced the game when there was no mop and you ran for 45 minutes to get where you wanted? Go right ahead.

The mop fits in perfectly, you just dont want to see it. You'd rather have instant travel with 0 risk, in which case, you are perfectly free to hire the services of a porter. Or run.

Either way, the recent cropping of mop hate threads isnt going to amount to anything, since the threads themselves are nothing more than "make it easier" or "make it faster", or both.

No. The whole game is a balance of risk and reward. You have other options if you dont want to risk the mop.

Then would a request that it be made "outdoors" so it doesn't kill any pre-existing movement speed buffs be out also?
