Relic dropping on higher tier mobs/zones - why not?!

I was wondering why there don't drop relics in Thaz for example?

Currently we (exodus) have to raid and take lower tier targets from lesser guilds to get the needed relics for our newer members because they dont drop in thaz at all for example.

I dont know if it was simply forgotten to be added, but why shouldnt thaz named and such also drop some relics?

That would #1 save the lower tier guilds from us taking down their possible targets and #2 us from having to do annoying low tier raids just for the damn relics. Win for both sides imo.

Hope that can be changed (soon)
 
I don't think relics will be added in a zone reknown for dropping archaic fragments. At least if you're a priest you can hope to get your archaic before all your relics !
If it's people that still need relics they might need gear form lower zones too so it works out.
If you're in a guild that recruited toons that do not meet most of the recruitment standards, it has to be expected. Everyone will live with it.

Thaz already yields insanely good loot for the difficulty of the encounters. Adding in free relics doesn't seem very logical.
 
I really don't see them adding a "get out of backgear free" card just cause Exo has to get a bunch of relics and doesn't want to do non-prime targets to get them.
 
Its more that we don't want to kill targets from lower guilds, but whatever. We will get the relics we need anyways.
 
Eh, lower guilds will be fine with probably over half the reliable relic droppers being on three day spawns.

It pretty much makes sense. Places like Thaz and ToT you need your relics, if by design your supposed to already have those spells, why would they be dropped there.
 
When I first saw this thread I thought you were going to ask that mobs that drop relics at very high end get their table changed to archaic frags or something. Things like ED tmaps and inner sanctum bosses dropping relics always seemed odd to me. Oh well.

At that level, a relic is often = 1k pp for the guild doing the content, so changing the pp drop rate to compensate for added relics could be done with no overall change to the drop table, if the devs were interested.

Whether it will be done or not, I'm glad to see an additional idea to help the issue with that tier - instead of just the oft-repeated demand for more content. New ideas are always welcome. =)
 
And here I was so excited that we had an idea to help the competition crunch in a thread without guilds prodding each other =[.
 
Well, to be fair, I think "please add more loot" is not the best way to go about it. However, my joke was more about the unnecessary relics dropping in Sanctum more so than prodding any guilds.

There are several items I want on Felyn that I would need to do backcontent to get. This has always been the case on SoD. I would really be against adding relics for the sake of addings relics, as most guilds would just scoop them with alts or turn them into 1k. Like I said, Thaz already has great rewards for how easy the zone is. Loot should never be added for "free".
 
Is it inconvenient to have to go back to old zones to get your relics? Yes.

Its also inconvenient to have to xp to get AAs so you can raid. Another inconvenient thing is having to farm cash for charms, that really sucks, going back to those same old xp zones just for some petty cash.

MMO's are full of inconvenience by design. Complaining about something and then the Devs capitulating is what very quickly drove WoW into the ground. SoD without these time consumers and inconveniences would just be well.... too easy.

::EDIT:: Not to be confused with the congestion at upper raid tiers. There are farms at that level, IE ToT weapons, Thaz armor, IP stuff. Those are by design, and IMO are fine as is. The congestion comes from circumstances, not design, and requires the attention that it has been given lately by the Devs. Whatever this Super Duper Randomization deal is theyre thinking of, the fact that they are finally willing to do something about it, makes me filled with respect.
