Greetings fellow SoD junkies!

After trying out the server and loving it i decided to dedicate some time to creating a custom ui designed off the SoD set up.
Ive had past experience doing so for live so i decided to lend my services here :)

UI Pic

As I'm not 100% sure about posting links to downloads on the forums so for the moment you can get the link by sending me a PM here. If i find out its OK to do so ill add the d/l link later on.

I'm also willing to make custom changes/designs within reason based on complexity/available time.

See you in game :keke:

EDIT: After extensive browsing of the forums I haven't found anything preventing posting the link here so long as its not for commercial/nefarious reason or adult material.
So here they are:
Complete zip
Browseable folder for single pieces

The files are set up toward a 1600x1200 resolution. Unless there is a specific interest in a smaller resolution (monitor not large enough for bigger/widescreen version) i have no plans to release one.
All the needed read-me files are there to help with set up.

Your comments are welcome :)

Thanks for the compliment.
Im not really using a dedicated site at the moment just some file hosting service that came up through google. Though if that still qualifies ill certainly ask. =)

Wow, I really like that. I have been thinking about coming out of retirement now that life is settling down, and this UI makes the urge to come back even stronger. Thanks! :toot:

This may be the first custom UI I've enjoyed. Great work, it is very compact and well layed out.

Thanks for the compliment =) Im glad folks are enjoying it.

Ill try making some new ones for various classes. Suggestions always welcome.

Well im out for being able to try it then lol. Im playing on my friends comp and he can't handle even 1280X1024. Whenever I manage to get my old comp back I could at least easily run 1280x1024 again. Damn my miss my old box. Only had a 6600 GT card, but she ran smooth.

Haruto, your sig is to tall. Please fix it.

but specifically this part:

Structure Silliness
Your signature may be up too 200 pixels tall (including all images, text and whitespace) and must be undisturbing to the forums as a whole. No retarded seizure pictures, no speedily animated images at all. Furthermore, it may not exceed a total of 64kb in size. This includes avatars.

How would this look on a 1680x1050 monitor, I am tempted to try it out. Are the windows changeable in size or no? I would probably like to create at least one more window as well, but it looks great.

Certain windows are sizable but very few. the hotbutton, spell, action, group and swappable gear window are fixed in size though if you don't need the swap window you can close it with alt-c.

You can also experiment with removing windows you don't want to use by deleting the appropriate equi file.

Certain windows have been combined and/or altered from their normal function and are as follows:

Targetwindow is now the target, group, health/mana/xp
combatabilities are the swappable items.
Playerwindow is the 'attack on' indicator.
Actions are a custom redesign to allow for larger buttons and full access to all inventory slots and a tab for all stats.

Chat windows are person preference and with some creative rearranging you can alter the layout drastically to fit a fair amount of resolutions.

Sizeable windows are as follows:
chat and song windows.

the pet window is be default placed where the song, compass and gear swap windows are currently and fits that space exactly.

I look forward to additional comments/suggestions as well as suggests for adjusting for smaller resolutions for those experimenting with the layout.

I like the look of this UI a lot. Great job. However, I can't install this UI. It is in my UI/custom directory but I cannot seem to load it.

Any help is appreciated.

The actual files should be in the eq directory in the uifiles folder.

The file path by default install should be

C:\Program Files\Sony\Everquest\uifiles\custom
or
C:\Program Files\Everquest\uifiles\custom

When you open the custom folder you should see the actual ui files. If you see an additional sub-folder and the files are in that you need to move them 'up' one folder
so they are directly in the custom folder.

If you seeing graphic elements but they aren't arranged properly you forgot to use the UI_charactername_ file by renaming it to the character you wish to use it for. Or your resolution isn't the same.
the UI_charactername_ file is the layout file and without it the game wont initially know to use that file on log. If your path is correct for the install but you didn't use the file you can log out and do so.

Or alternately you can use alt-o in game and click the load ui skin button. Select 'custom' which should be there if the files are in the correct place. If its not listed there you should double check your install path.

Hope that helps. If your still having issues drop me another line and ill go from there.

I was wondering If I could use and make changes to your images. I have been planning on creating a UI and I like your design. I need to make it run at smaller resolutions though, as my monitor is 1280 by 1024 max. I also wanted to add and change a few functions in it.

Be all means feel free to do so =)

I had been hoping to get time to make a smaller resolution series and/or one single set with a very adjustable layout just havent had the time.

If you need a hand your welcome to drop me a line on my email provided in the install instructions.

If you complete it, mind throwing a download link up for it or perhaps sending a PM my way? I tried out the one Chaosmidget created and found out that this old monitor I am using also only goes up to 1280 by 1024. It's a bummer because I really liked this one too... :(

I can always rough guess one based on the numbers since i still prefer to use a traditional crt monitor and cant efficiently run that sort of resolution.

Though if you try this one out and run some adjustments by me ill be happy to adjust and post up a new version.

Perhaps include a screen shot with some artistic ms paint guides to help me along (yes im serious :keke: )

This UI is awesome. Thanks for taking the time to create it and sharing it with all of us.

I have never posted on the forums (look at my post count...), but I just thought this was too cool not to say thanks.

Well done.
