Re-instatement

Dalayan Beginner
Bruuce (60monk) daedae (60 enchanter) were banned on the account of triple boxing. Even though i was not directing linked to it ( meaning wasn't my IP) my chararcters still got pinned. Its been 2 months or so since the banning, family friend who played Krone and Zrone triple boxed my rotting ranger ( ubino). He never read the rules , and even when i told him specifically not to triple box no matter the reason. I had absolutely no idea he was doing this all i know is, I camped out for the night in sorceror's lab after a guild grp latenight. Woke up and im in jail shocked and dismade although helpless. My email was on the ranger account.

I wish to rejoin SoD and play actively. Besides that ive made and effort as a player not to get Gm attention , or have any player conflicts. Ive never been reported and want to maintain that status. thank you for your time hope to play soon

This brings to mind 2 real issues.

1) Do we punish the player or the toon? If he is the real owner of the account and it can be proven, via IPs from server logs, that it was not him who broke the rules then what? This punishment hits the toons which then hits the owner of them. What happened to the guy who used someone else's toon to 3 box? Was he IP banned?

2) Letting other people use your toons really exposes you to tons of problems. There are situations where it is a must, just very very few. You gave someone your info, you told them not to break the rules which shows you knew they were. You did not change your PW.

In a case like this it's hard to prove who was really behind the characters being banned. Saying it was a friend/relative/random person with your password who did it is the oldest excuse in the book. Checking IP's does nothing but prove the person wasn't at home when they got banned, and prevents no one from doing things that are banworthy from a friend or family members house.

All that being said, you are responsible for what happens to your toon when you give out the password (in this case for their actions which resulted in a ban, and in others the loss of items that are stolen/sold). Choose wisely who you give this information to.

This is not an official response from the staff, just my personal 2cp on the matter.

If there's one piece of advice I could give you it'd be to be honest when making a post like this, as has been said your excuse is the oldest one in the book, I don't know if it was you or your cousin, but I thought the 3 boxing rule was that only one char got banned. I feel like the only reason I was allowed to return was because I was completely honest in every thing I said and people believed me, I'm not so sure if this is the case with this thread.

not only is he my family friend but he's my roommate i know it means nothing in the decision but im not crying wolf. It may be the 'oldest excuse in the book'
but i am not liieing my word means the most to me and online its all a man can have.

Being banned for 'triple boxxing' seems super lame, since triple boxxing offers 'no real benefit' to the user.. anyways..

Triple boxing allows the user to basically be a completely self sustaining group. SoD is (IMO) more geared towards grouping and comraderie. They make the rules in their sandbox, you agree to them to play here.

It offers you the benefit of having three characters logged in when everyone else is allowed two.

In addition, the rules even specifically prohibit having a buffbot or whatever log in even just for a second to buff your group, which imo is the only area such a thing COULD be allowed without changing the current balance of the game.

I'm torn here. I pity anyone who loses a toon to a banning for three boxing when they aren't even at fault(I'm sure it rarely happens if ever..a real idiot who just doesn't care, or even a child who can't understand any better.. more later about that.) A few people have my info. Everyone probably knows their names. Everyone probably knows those people know the rules and would never be caught dead three boxing. But what if.. they changed, and did it, and you lost your toon over it? There isn't much you can do here except hope the staff believes you. With that said, I don't think any such thing has ever happened, and every case or most of them is a case of someone who didn't read the rules, and imho if you can't take the time to read the rules to know what you can and cannot do, then you are not worth having around for you are nothing but trouble.

So, yeah, it stays in the back of my mind but I can't believe anyone who currently has my info among a few toons would ever three box. And since staff has got a bit stricter on the whole /q LD char buffing stuff, I've been sure to remind people that if they're going to temp fate, if they do, don't do it with my enc or I can change the password if they can't be bothered to wait 30 seconds to log out a character to log mine in or if their intent really is to buff two characters at once. I refuse to lose a character over laziness/someone else's fault.

Bottom line, careful who you give your info to. It is a responsibility of yours, not the staff.

The way the XP distribution is set up, you would never have to find a group and could just 3 box yourself to 65+. Also, on Live, this was kept in check by having to pay for 3 subscriptions per month. On here it is free so there is absolutely no downside.

I know people had 3+ accounts on Live, but it was pretty infrequent due to the money cost.
