Rangers and Aggro

So we have seen the SK spell agro increase patch. I would propose a similar version for the ranger line with increased -aggro. As it currently stands, with a Sanguis Regina -10 agro and ... the rest of aniketos's stats it takes 5-8 LANDED jolts to keep agro off a warrior and a couple less for knights. This can mean from 9-12 casts as ranger gear isnt high CHA and mosts resists constantly scaling higher.

I feel this problem is due to agro generation scaling and the 5+yr old spells being a static number as well as mobs resist checks generally being higher. Basically rangers generate monk level dps now (melee, bow normally is fine) without the perks of a scaling aggro dump. My proposed solution is to scale it by mob hp or dps/weap ratio or something to that extent but as it stands currently. A LARGE chunk of dps is lost between so many casts of the spell.

Because it follows the same principles as the SK jolt line. And all over these spells were designed preprison over 5 years ago (when DHK/PoA/PoT gear was king) to fit the baseline then. The game has drastically changed since then and as dps has gone up, thus agro has gone up. The initial intent of jolt was an effective agro reduction tool. At this point in the HIGHEST end of the game, the principles are no longer consistent.

In the additional 5 tiers since design phase, a lot has changed an the parts of the game that do not scale well have been largely emphasized to the point that some are barely functional. This can be seen with pet based classes or caster dps beyond a point. not sure what tier you are at, but anyone who is T9+ will notice these differences as the stand out more.

You're probably right. But i haven't noticed problems @ T7-8 even with rangers having Sanguis as main weap... :)

After raiding quite a bit with Anik I'd have to agree with his post. When the -agro modifier and the resist rates of the jolts are taken into account, rangers get the short end of the stick in terms of agro management at the high end. As for other dps classes, rogues and monks can drop ALL agro fairly consistently. I've personally never seen a BL pull agro but if it became an issue they have a stance to take care of it. Anecdotally, I've seen Aniketos die plenty of times on raids while meleeing and regularly jolting which sort of makes me think things are out of wack.

The issue here is pretty much the same issue that SK's had with their terror line and a fix was put in place to address that - seems like something could be done for rangers as well.

So we have seen the SK spell agro increase patch.

Not to detract from the point of this thread but where is it you all keep getting this info from. I have looked fairly hard and asked a good number of shadowknights but the consensus with them is that shadowknight terrors have not been changed in a very long time/ever.

On the subject of rangers: I wish they had a bigger resist check, that's about it. I cannot relate much to your woes as all of the rangers I've seen are fine with aggro unless they are intentionally being a dick with their flamescar and vah sword (You know who you are)
