Rangers are a dual wield class with a skill cap of 250 in all of the different weapons types (with a possible exception for hand-to-hand). Following is a list of all the high end ranger usable 1hers along with the ratio and % increase in ratio from the baseline weapon (Stormrazor from PoAir). For elemental dmg mods on the weapon, I used 1/2 of the value to calculate the ratio.
Patriarch is an aggro weapon, so I can understand the ratio on it not being exceptional. But why do rangers get no 1h dps upgrades above PoAir until a Lower Thaz boss? The 1h from Sep is same ratio as Air as is the Axe from Water or Valor (not sure where it drops). Two 1hers drop in CoD, but they are pretty much the same ratio (with one actually being worse). The Blade of Shifting Dimensions from OP is actually a 10% DOWNGRADE from PoAir.
Conspicuously absent from this list are:
As was pointed out in a previous thread, Ghar is certainly harder to take down than the fire mini in lower Thaz but less difficult than the fire boss. So I feel that the ratios on Screamstrike, Flamestrike and the Flame-forged Longblade are reasonably proportional to the difficulty in acquiring them. What is not right is that neither of the 1hbs are ranger usable yet both can be used by warriors and rogues and even bards can use the Flamestrike mace.
I'm not asking that rangers be placed on every @#%(@^@ 1h in the game. Some items are obviously not intended to be ranger usable ie. Wardfist, Frostwrath (upper Thaz). But having to go 5 tiers between upgrades is just too damn much.
