Random Pixel Errors

Ok, while playing EQ I am getting random black/gray pixels showing up. They tend to group together in certain areas. It also seems to appear most often the surface of texture planes that are near to the camera.

In game people have suggested updating drivers: I dont think they have even released a driver update in 2 years so I dont think thats the direction I need to go in.

Dying videocard: maybe? I dunno...I'd like to see if anyone else has ever experienced this first.

AMD Athlon 3200+
Radeon 9800 Pro
Win 7

Finally, let me clarify these random pixels, they are not fixed pixel errors, they are changing with each refresh of the screen so they are instantly jumping around and scattering almost like the snow on a non-existant tv channel. Or electrons being scattered if anyone has ever played with one of those machines in school. Thanks for any help.

This has been SOLVED:

This phenomena is the result of the videocard overheating. The onboard 12V supply to the heatsink fan failed and yah, well it got hot! Quick, Cheap solution: Solder the wires onto a casefan power leads, the extra current draw should be neglible.
