It is a very simple general question.
If the respawn time can currently be expressed as d days plus or minus h hours,
where d and h vary from mob to mob and d does not have to be an integer.
Then would the game be improved or made worse if the respawn was d plus or minus
5h?
So the mobs respawn on average as they currently do - just into a much bigger window.
there is no "minus" with spawns in this game btw. Back in the day, most mobs used to be 4.5 day spawns, and that led to them often respawning on euro time permanently. Once they got on euro time, they would spawn on euro time forever. Every mob with a spawn time longer than a day has the randomizer added - up to ~100 minutes per spawn day.
This was changed, at least on all the mobs I could think of. NZ and 4.3 in particular will NEVER spawn before 5 days (120 hours), and the latest they can spawn is around 129 hours.
Let's say Exo kills NZ at 2pm. It will spawn 5 days later sometime between 2pm and 11pm. This actually gives CW the advantage, spawn wise. Now of course, if Exo is smart, they will kill contested targets as early as possible, or kill in it on a day where day+5 is a day that you guys don't raid. This is smart and gives themselves the best chance to keep it next week.
Now let's say it spawns on CW next time, and you guys kill at 10pm. It's likely to spawn well in the AM next time - giving it to Exo. This system is actually set up very well for spreading the mobs around.
I think it may be best if they were set to around 5 days 3 hours respawn time to make it a major inconvenience for one guild to try to monopolize a mob, but that'd also potentially screw guilds who raid uncontested mobs and they may not be up at their usual raid times.
Personally, I think the system is set up pretty well. This is an old school EQ type game, and in order to be the best, you have to be willing to be the best at dominating this type of system. In fact, in a game that's "easy" relative to other raiding games, this is what sets people apart. Plenty of people/guilds have managed to do just that.
