55 is also a good time to finish/start some of the longer quest lines. I usually wait till 55 to start MQ on my characters and usually good for getting through the first dozen AAs or so depending on how much time I spend in UC (Which is good XP at 55). You can start the Vah, faction, and diety quest lines.

This is very true whether or not you are a fan of the 50's (i hate them)

at 55 there are a few really good places for exp.

Freeport- Not much loot here but I think there are quest drops
Crystal Caverns- Good Loot harder for group replacement
Great devide:Harthuks- Great cash loot quest drops , extreamly boring
Red Sun Peaks- Good for Kiteing groups, No real reason to go here other then change of pace
Plagued Lands- I think there are some quests you can do here
Dark Woods- there are a few named here, Lots of casters though I don't recomend it
E-Tmap Grind- DERF RING FTW!!!!!!!
Under Caverns- Annoying mobs, Quest drops,Decent loot with focus effects.
Eldinals:Entrance- Boring but chance for some decent loot/CLicky + drops for Athica neck
