Race change

That is a great idea.

I still want to be an iksar paladin for the 50 AC bonus. That is fucking unreal for tanks.

Edit: My reasoning: Effort in character( in this suggestion paying plat) is rewarded with an opportunity to change to a race that fits within the system. But effort out of the game (90% of the ways to get fame) rewards you with something that is extra for the game.

That's a pretty valid point. My point though , is that unless you get benefitted something out of race change in terms of capability, I don't think it really matters all that much. Iksar seem like THE race to take example as to which changing to is harmful for plenty of reasons :

you get less exp with one so changing later is not cool for people who went through
You get clear bonus , AC notably
Iksar are badass in all aspects

But in case of other races, I think it's easy to incorporate and like i mentionned, having a quest for this or some small sacrifices in terms of wealth and stats perhaps, could be viable and/or fun.
 
Another idea is a tome of some sort to change your race.

Costs you plat to initiate it, then costs you XP to earn it.

Not gonna lie, it would be kinda neat to become a Taladorian ranger. Frogs are friggin awesome.
 
I think it should be pretty easy to get a race change for races that are originally available to your class. You should be able to change your gender pretty easily too. Neither would cause any unbalance.

Making say an Iksar Wizard or ogre bard should be pretty hard to do.
