1. How long have you played SoD? Since late december I think. Though forum join date shows Mid january...so that's probably correct.
2. How did you hear of SoD? Through eqemu, was playing on squeaker but got immensely frustrated by numerous character bugs I was experiencing + alot of poorly planned and implemented content.
3. What character(s) do you play? Name(s), class(es), race(s) and level(s). Put your "main" character(s) in bold.
Vista= 42 sk
Desif= 25 shammy
Vistachiri= 5 bard
Iilben= 3 warrior
Imeriaz = 5 druid
Aisling = 15 mage
4. How would you grade SoD? (On a scale from 1 to 10)
I'd say probably a 7-8
5. What do you like the most about SoD?
Well the zones are pretty well implemented, something I definitely appreciate, and even in the most barren zones there's no lack of mobs. There also are a number of enjoyable quests although I'd like to see more (although so would everyone probably lol, and you guys are already turning out content pretty quickly imo). The lack of character destroying bugs have also made this game pretty enjoyable.
6. What do you like the least about SoD?
I'd have to say resist rates as far as my caster characters are concerned, mostly w/them being connected w/charisma, which makes certain races much less than desirable for casters and leaves hybrids focusing on yet another stat. Fear has been a problem in certain zones as well as it definitely blows that I can be feared in a zone where I can't fear. Of course probably wouldn't in alot of these zones anyways. That and fear in those pretty much seems to work as a mez. Solo content could also stand a large upgrade. Atm levels seem to pwn all pretty much. Once I got my sk high enough I've just started farming the heck out of mobs that drop decent gear and twinking my lower characters. Much more enjoyable playing them w/decent gear, and they can actually solo the occasional white or yellow (very occasional) now, although I am still learning the game.
7. How well a job do you feel the SoD staff is doing at present? Pretty good
8. What do you feel regarding low level (< 30) game balance on SoD presently?

25-30 was ok on my sk, had a few excellent groups at this level, have had a helluva time leveling up my shammy though as there has either been group lackage or groups who only want to grind on things he could solo for hours.

20-24 was pretty quick for him though w/excellent groupage.

15-19 Don't remember too terribly much, around then I had moved my shammy out of sundered already and was working BB and shrouded. Same pretty much for my sk.

1-14 For the shammy it pretty much blew. Grinding for xp in sundered until I finally realized there were better starting places..much better. For my sk was pretty fun though for most of it. Even though I soloed most of the way up to 8 or so, which was hell.

9. What do you feel regarding low level (< 30) game content on SoD presently?

Depends on the area for beginner content Np pwns all. No other places seem to have it as easy. I haven't started any toons in oggok and never even been to grobb b/c of mysterious hey all your chars are kos here phenomena. Will never ever ever start in Sadri again as it was godawful w/the lack of newb quests. Still not even sure if I can get my shammy a medicine bag. There are some turnins now, unfortunately I now have excellent faction w/thurgardin...but frogs will not sell to my sk. Think faction got turned around somehow there.

Can't really say much about newb quests as my 2 mains really don't have any to speak of. Maybe the grobb sk has some usable ones but can't get in there. Might just redo another sk of a different race eventually.

For the approaching higher levels content I haven't really experienced too terribly much of it. I guess the masterwork othmir items are supposed to fall in this area, but w/them nodrop now I hardly see much use for them as toons who can get them at least as far as melees are concerned already probably have much better armor at that point. The mq aug is nice, just did the first part, although I have no clue how to work w/augs yet. Would definitely like to see more turnins. I love those.

10. What do you feel regarding mid level (30-49) game balance on SoD presently?
More questage needed here too. The starfalls are pretty decent from what I've seen of them. Not going to mention the shammy ones as I havent gotten them yet. The sk breastplate pwns from what I've seen so far. The sk wep? I prefer my experimental axe quite frankly so far for any kind of soloing. Solo difficulty takes a sharp turn here for sk's from what I've seen and I personally don't even bother trying to do it much anymore as it's rarely worth the time investment If it's white or higher I pretty much always leave it alone w/out a group.
11. What do you feel regarding mid level (30-49) game content on SoD presently? More questage, more turnins, maybe a few sologeared zones.
12. What do you feel regarding high level (50+) game balance on SoD presently?
Can't really answer this one.
13. What do you feel regarding high level (50+) game content on SoD presently?
See above
14. What do you think of the direction that SoD is taking at present with its updates (content versus fixes, usually)?
Not sure exactly what you mean here so I'll add a bit of subdivision 1-10 on each w/scores added and compared.
*note these are not my ratings of what I like but rather the ratings of how much I've seen go on in terms of stuff adding, fixing and whatnot*
1) Content=> new stuff 23
a) zoneage=> apparently we're gonna be adding a ton eventually, was on and saw that zone connect of a bunch of new ones. 8
b) questage=> some good ones available. Much more needed 6
c) mobage=> Haven't noticed many new one's being added as I'm pretty new 5
d) lootage=> same as above but could definitely use some boosting, especially earlier on, but thats more of a fixes issue
4

2) Fixes=> anything that has been already established being changed 31
a) nerfage 10 (I'm forever seeing these)
b) boostage 3 (Seen 1 or 2)
c) buggage 8 (if it's a bug it either gets fixed, or workarounds are made most of the time. At least as far as serious ones are concerned. Qbugs however are a different story)
d)'sploitage 10 good run on that recently though I wouldn't exactly dignify mq enough to call it 'sploiting, doesn't require enough knowhow. They're scriptkiddies pretty much.

Definately towards a fixes direction atm.

15. What is the most important factor that keeps you playing SoD (and EQ in general)?
I like the game, even though I'd prefer a bunch more upgrades as far as players are concerned rather than mob upgrades.

16. Finally, what would you wish for the absolutely most to be implemented onto SoD?

1) More questage definately. Would much rather do that than xp grind.
2) Some more class abilities and stuff would be megacool.
3) More tskillage definitely. Including more statboosting foods/drinks, baking, tinkering etc etc.
4) Bring in Vah'shir or replace them w/another race.
5) Much more solo and group oriented content. Am considering not even bothering to level some of my toons just so I can get some raid gear from some of the adepts.
6) BW being able to be used during combat, just not while actually engaged. Hell I can't even bw near a group fighting something when I'm not even part of that group.

Other than that can't really think of anything atm.

4. How would you grade SoD? (On a scale from 1 to 10)
9.5
5. What do you like the most about SoD?
The constant changes, and additions. There is ALWAYS something new to explore. Time and thought is put into every tweak, modification, and content addition.
6. What do you like the least about SoD?
OOC. Please leave it as it is, but implement serverwide chat channels for the crap that is discussed across zones in ooc currently. I am also frustrated with the new vendor system. Not as a seller, but as a buyer (never owned a vendor). Unfortunately, I have no suggestions to improve it.
7. How well a job do you feel the SoD staff is doing at present?
Very well.
8. What do you feel regarding low level (< 30) game balance on SoD presently?

9. What do you feel regarding low level (< 30) game content on SoD presently?
Majority of it is ignored for familiar zones. bb-warrens-fr. warpstone is making its presence known, but other than that, there are few alternatives that are utilized.
10. What do you feel regarding mid level (30-49) game balance on SoD presently?

11. What do you feel regarding mid level (30-49) game content on SoD presently?
Content is plentiful, though as stated before, usually in an area that can be utilized well beyond 50, forcing you to move on so as not to incur the wrath of the old area penalty
12. What do you feel regarding high level (50+) game balance on SoD presently?

13. What do you feel regarding high level (50+) game content on SoD presently?

14. What do you think of the direction that SoD is taking at present with its updates (content versus fixes, usually)?
I am happy with the addition of new content, as well as the attention paid to bugs as they come up.
15. What is the most important factor that keeps you playing SoD (and EQ in general)?
Gave up on EQLive long ago. SoD has everything I liked from Live, and improves on it.
16. Finally, what would you wish for the absolutely most to be implemented onto SoD?
An alernate travel system. Druids and Wizards dont port for cash very often on SoD, and it can make travel tedious. Especially for those of us that like to move around a lot. I like the translocators, but their destinations sometimes fall short. Also, please look into implementing recomended levels as opposd to level requirements. An item that will gimp itself if equipped before the recomended level as oppsed to being unuseable before the required level would make it more desirable, but no more unbalancing.

1. How long have you played SoD?
Since June 2005, started a bit before WR was shot down.

2. How did you hear of SoD?
My BF was randomly searching for free WoW emulator and found SoD.

3. What character(s) do you play? Name(s), class(es), race(s) and level(s). Put your "main" character(s) in bold.
Tinkaa, 65 high elf magician, Chaa, 57 wood elf druid, Cvetkaa, 56 human shadow knight

4. How would you grade SoD? (On a scale from 1 to 10)
9

5. What do you like the most about SoD?
High end game, people, possibility to DC. Also treasure hunting and various quests are really nice (including port necks!). I think treasure maps are one of best ideas ever. Adepts are also a good way to learn how to cooperate with eachother.
Also the staff is cool. I like the principles, on which Wiz is basing the game and the rules against discrimination. New augments, main quest and searfire also becoming an augment are awesome. Different tradeskills are also cool.

6. What do you like the least about SoD?
Guild hatred, but that's not really server's fault. Also some topics on forums get buried without answers on questions (even if the questions aren't so stupid). Sometimes just a simple yes or no would help us know, where we stand.

7. How well a job do you feel the SoD staff is doing at present?
10

8. What do you feel regarding low level (< 30) game balance on SoD presently?
Don't remember very well, was also before the resists. It's only frustrating that when my little druid groups with let's say 5 level higer characters and they're killing mobs, which con yellow or red to them, she can't do any damage. After all green con mobs can still hit me, even though my main is 65. She could at least hit them melee some times if the spells aren't landing (just to not feel completely useless :p)

9. What do you feel regarding low level (< 30) game content on SoD presently?
Pretty well, also nice soloing spots for a mage iirc.

10. What do you feel regarding mid level (30-49) game balance on SoD presently?
Don't remember very well, was also before the resists. Nice. Even though some zones like paw and Mielech will always be preferred over others.

11. What do you feel regarding mid level (30-49) game content on SoD presently?
Pretty well, also nice soloing spots for a mage iirc. Starfall quests are a really great idea and probably the best pieces of equipment that non-twinked people can afford at those levels.

12. What do you feel regarding high level (50+) game balance on SoD presently?
It's made pretty nice. I won't whine about possible improvements (imo), because it never helps and there's actually not many things bad.

13. What do you feel regarding high level (50+) game content on SoD presently?
Pretty nice! I hope more zones and quests will be added - after all you can't become higher than level 65, so you only have some zones available for xp (quite enough). I don't have so many aas yet that I could tell that I experienced all the zones very well already, but I hope that when I will have so many aas, more content will be added.
I love new zones being added (High keep being one of my favourite ones, but sadly only rarely used, and Undercaverns are also nice - even though the mobs are a pain with counterspelling, but loot drops are really nice in there).

14. What do you think of the direction that SoD is taking at present with its updates (content versus fixes, usually)?
I mostly like everything. Even if you don't think it's an improvement, you get used to it. The overall gaming quality is very good.

15. What is the most important factor that keeps you playing SoD (and EQ in general)?
People. I don't know, how it was on EQlive, because I've never played it, but I hear people here are more friendly.

16. Finally, what would you wish for the absolutely most to be implemented onto SoD?
Epic quests, Planes of Fire and Water.
Also a way to remove/change your surname, haha. I don't wanna bug GMs. I'd rather pay a few hundred pp and get rid of it :D
Also any way of guild cooperation situations would be nice. The events, which I usually miss because of my schedule, are a good idea, how to bring different people together.
If LFG window would work, it would also be cool. And if people were actually using it then.

*Sorry for any mistakes or misunderstandings, made due to my bad knowlege of English.

Edited now that my alts are a bit higher level :)

1. How long have you played SoD?

On and off for about a year until about a month ago.

2. How did you hear of SoD?

EQEmu forums, I think. It's been a while and I'm not that confident in my memory.

3. What character(s) do you play? Name(s), class(es), race(s) and level(s). Put your "main" character(s) in bold.

Ulema, 60 magician; Zalman, 60 rogue; Knelle, 20 enchanter.

4. How would you grade SoD? (On a scale from 1 to 10)

8.5

5. What do you like the most about SoD?

Meaningful quests at all levels. Original/beneficial game mechanics (heat, tradeskill xp), custom AAs. Long quest chains that actually make me care about the NPCs involved; I just finished Ring IV and I actually felt kind of bad about the Captain's death /emo. Administration that works to maintain a quality server and playerbase.

6. What do you like the least about SoD?

Random (sudden) disconnect bugs, packet loss bugs, zoning crashes, etc. Client-side restrictions and limitations. The odd pathing seen in some zones (such as mobs running through walls or attempting to flee through the geometry).

7. How well a job do you feel the SoD staff is doing at present?

Admirable job on all fronts.

8. What do you feel regarding low level (< 30) game balance on SoD presently?

It seems fine to me. This is the level range where classes are just coming into their own, and I've noticed that generally, content here seems to be more forgiving than content in later level ranges, which helps when players need to start learning their classes. The learning curve and class synergy is good, you can slap together a group with just about any combination of characters and the differences between classes that perform similar roles is not yet so pronounced that groups break when one or two members leave.

9. What do you feel regarding low level (< 30) game content on SoD presently?

Seems pretty solid. There are many quests for low level players to make coin and earn the occasional item. The main quest immediately rewards players with an augmentation that grows with their character as they complete more of the quest, this is great because it gives the players a little boost to their primary stats when they need it the most. There are also a ton of other quests to do and many zones to support the playerbase. The only thing I've noticed is that people tend to group up around newport a great deal, causing Blackburrow to experience some overcrowding and other newbie zones to be occasionally underpopulated.

After you get out of the BB range you have a decent choice of zones to pick from. Though I did find myself picking the low-hanging fruit in many of these zones, in an attempt to make leveling a bit easier. I would often fight in the entrance area of a zone and then move to another zone that is slightly more difficult, just to avoid getting an exp penalty or because some zones simply have inferior zone geometry and lay outs compared to others. Unfortunately, there isn't much SoD devs can do about Company's designs.

Overall, I think content sub-30 is great, but I'd like to see some newbie zones become more popular.

10. What do you feel regarding mid level (30-49) game balance on SoD presently?

At this range, all the classes have pretty much come into their own and it seems like the learning curve started to ramp up a bit. This is good because if players haven't learned the ins and outs of their class yet, they will need to if they want to continue leveling at a good pace. The distinctions between different classes really starts to become apparent here--clerics start to really outheal druids and shaman, for example. This is good because it helps encourage a balanced number of classes across the playerbase. Of course, player preference comes into play to skew the class distribution, but because different classes really are different, and because they each have a role, no class is really useless.

Groups seem to be a bit more fragile here, and more sensetive to the removal of one or more members, but that is to be expected. As the reward of a particular encounter increases, so should the risk. Part of an encounter's challenge is having the proper resources to tackle it. Still, I have noticed that if you have skilled players together, you can make very non-standard groups work and work well if you know what you are doing. This is great because it rewards skilled players who are willing to take risks.

I think there could be a little improvement on rogues in this level range. Maybe poisons will help make the class feel more unique, rather than just raw DPS, which I think kind of comes up short in comparison to other classes. A monk might not offer as much DPS as a rogue, but they are much lower maintenance and can provide pulling and occasional tanking, as an example. Not that I've had a difficult time finding groups, but I think if I did a bit more than just stab things with my daggers, I would probably have been a bigger overall contributor to the success of my groups.

11. What do you feel regarding mid level (30-49) game content on SoD presently?

Very nice, overall.

Although I did find myself favoring a few zones despite lower xp bonuses for a few reasons. For example, First Ruins has a lot of good mobs to kill in the mid-30s and even up into the low-40s, but because the castle you need to pull from experiences a lot of aggroing through walls and difficult pathing/pulling, it's better to just move on to Paw until you're ready to head to MielechB, even if Paw would give you no bonus or even a penalty. This isn't really something that SoD devs can fix, but it's just something I've noticed. A lot of zones in this level seem to have some sort of annoyance factor that tends to either reduce the willingness of players to go there, or the efficiency of a group's exping there, making other zones much more favored.

Still, the content itself is good. There's a lot of mid-level quests between Heartlands and Starfall and there are some solid zones to XP in. Maybe a few zones in this level range could get a going over to make them more appealing to more than one group at a time? Kaladim seems like it could use a tweak or two on some spawn timers (not named or their guards/placeholders, but regular leveling fodder). It wouldn't hurt to have another dungeon in this level range, especially in the 30-40 area.

12. What do you feel regarding high level (50+) game balance on SoD presently?

Basically, this is just the same as 30-49 game balanced, but more pronounced. Rangers could do solid tanking even in the mid 40s, but now they are greatly outstripped by a warrior, paladin, or shadowknight. Clerics just heal so well that druids and shaman can't hope to compete (but they in no way heal poorly, just not as effectively). Wizards and rogues start doing insane DPS, etc., etc. As the classes finally realize themselves, players should have developed the skills they need to succeed. If they haven't, well, it's their fault.

Groups are even more sensetive to a key member leaving, but again, it is still possible to achieve things with a non-standard group if you know what you are doing. I was in a group that could kill Sigrizt the Offerer at a full spawn room without any healing or tanking, just pure DPS, we were all between 50 and 55. So, again, players who know what they are doing can achieve success even in odd circumstances or with non-standard arrangements. Which is awesome.

Though, I do feel some classes might deserve a going-over. Paladins come to mind. At times as a rogue, I've felt a bit inadequate too, but it could just be because I'm using a Shadow Claw and still wearing some pieces of chainmail and bone armor.

13. What do you feel regarding high level (50+) game content on SoD presently?

I think it's great. I haven't even had time to explore more than a handful of high-end zones, so I have a lot on my plate still and much to look forward too.

One of the biggest problems MMOs face is the level cap plateau. SoD has a simply huge number of zones to support a great deal of growth in the game's player base, so even if the server grows more populated, there are still a number of zones available that are in the 55-60+ range for players to enjoy. I rarely see more than one group in a lot of the zones I'm going to, so it definatly seems like there is a lot of room for growth.

I haven't done a lot of high level quests yet, but I'm looking forward to finishing up Ring V, getting my Amice(s) and the various gate necklaces from high-end faction turn-ins. Between this and the huge number of quests and content I haven't even found out about yet, I don't think I will be short anything to do for a long time. Definatly excellent.

14. What do you think of the direction that SoD is taking at present with its updates (content versus fixes, usually)?

I haven't really seen much content added or a great deal many bugs fixed during my length of play in these last few weeks, so I'll just give my thoughts on this subject in general:

I think certain bugs should take priority for being fixed, camp out bugs, zoning bugs, random disconnects and packetloss bugs are really annoying and during a long play session these can easily crop up multiple times. Otherwise, minor bugs or errors can easily be worked out as content is added, MMOs need new content added frequently to keep them alive--even (or perhaps especially?) donation supported MMOs like SoD. It's an important balance to keep between the two factors, if content is buggy no one will want to do it, but if you spend all of your time squashing even the tiniest of bugs at the sacrifice of new content, the game world is going to stagnate.

I trust the development and management teams to make the proper decisions, obviously the management so far has been successful in accomplishing their goals and producing a quality game or else SoD would most likely not be as popular as it is today.

15. What is the most important factor that keeps you playing SoD (and EQ in general)?

This is a tough question to answer, at least for me. I've found that I just enjoy MMOs much more than regular games, even regular online multiplayer games. It might just be because of the sense of scale or the interactions with other players, but for some reason, I feel more satisfied when I accomplish something in an MMO than I do in a single player or non-massive multiplayer game.

Also, I enjoy challenging encounters and overcoming obstacles through teamwork and skill with other people and that is a large stone in the foundation of modern MMOs.

16. Finally, what would you wish for the absolutely most to be implemented onto SoD?

Realistically? All tradeskills fully implemeneted up to a skill of 250 as well as a use for currently useless or near-useless skills (begging, research, poison making, poison use, etc.). Some new quests wouldn't hurt either.

A bit less realistically? A ton of new zones, quests and other goodies cherrypicked from the resources available via Game.

1. How long have you played SoD? about 2 months

2. How did you hear of SoD? From someone's livejournal

3. What character(s) do you play? Name(s), class(es), race(s) and level(s). Put your "main" character(s) in bold.
Marydale - 26 halfling druid
Marybell - 23 halfling warrior

Babatte - 15 gnome paladin
I dual box, so I consider both Marydale and Marybell my mains. They're sisters, you see

4. How would you grade SoD? (On a scale from 1 to 10) - I'd say around a 8. Mostly because of the instability issues....and getting dumped off the boat all the time *laughs*

5. What do you like the most about SoD? The quests!

6. What do you like the least about SoD? Server iinstability (and getting dumped off the boats all the time)

7. How well a job do you feel the SoD staff is doing at present? I think you guys do an awesome job. I've found the gms to be friendly, attentive, and reasonable. The game is well maintained, the lore well thought out, and (with the exception of the aforementioned boats) and runs well.

8. What do you feel regarding low level (< 30) game balance on SoD presently? I think it's pretty good. I play both a meleer and a caster, and both do well for their levels in what they are supposed to do. I don't find either one grossly over or underpowered.

9. What do you feel regarding low level (< 30) game content on SoD presently? I've been very pleased with the tiered quests. I've been working on the main quest as well as the newport rings. I've found plenty of places to hunt with mobs that are a reasonable challenge. Of course, some of those zones are overrun with dudespeakers...but you can't have everything *grin*.

10. What do you feel regarding mid level (30-49) game balance on SoD presently?
11. What do you feel regarding mid level (30-49) game content on SoD presently?
12. What do you feel regarding high level (50+) game balance on SoD presently?
13. What do you feel regarding high level (50+) game content on SoD presently?
I can't address questions 10-13 as I have not yet reached 30 on any of my characters.

14. What do you think of the direction that SoD is taking at present with its updates (content versus fixes, usually)?
Well, I'd be more happy if the boats were fixed (*laughs* are you seeing a theme here), but over all, I think the balance is good.

15. What is the most important factor that keeps you playing SoD (and EQ in general)? Well, I don't play EQ anymore. Quit several months before I came here. What has kept me playing SoD so far is that I am enjoying the content of the game and the people I am meeting. The GMs do a good job of keeping the worst of the riff raff out, and in general most of the player population is quite mature (and being old, I like that). I like the way the tradeskills work (I'm an avid tradeskiller) and the variety of quests to do (also an avid quester). I'm enjoying learning the lore and developing my characters within that lore.

16. Finally, what would you wish for the absolutely most to be implemented onto SoD? BAKING! Oh, and a better method for selling. The whole listsold thing just doesn't work well for the casual player who is on for limited amounts of time.

1. How long have you played SoD?

a) 3 months.

2. How did you hear of SoD?

a) Soun/Sald (I believe Soun heard it from SomethingAwful.com)

3. What character(s) do you play? Name(s), class(es), race(s) and level(s). Put your "main" character(s) in bold.

a) Lytec (65 Shaman)
Kellie (47 Ranger)
Kelliee (33 Wizard)

4. How would you grade SoD? (On a scale from 1 to 10)

a) 8 out of 10.

5. What do you like the most about SoD?

a) I love the community it brings; there is a magic about it much like the original EQ before the 50 billion expansions. It's nostalgic, yet, it's not a trivial game. For the groups that wish to try, the game is *very* challenging and entertaining. For the groups that wish to coast, they have that option as well. The interaction between staff and playerbase is good, and the patching is frequent and fixes are quick.

6. What do you like the least about SoD?

a) What I like least is partially conflicting with what I love most. For example, for the groups that wish to try, the game is very challenging and entertaining... but the risk may not match the rewards. I believe a few times, our groups of 6 tackled extremely tough mobs but received rewards we could not even use due to level restrictions. Overall, I just believe that risk should match reward and this is missing in some encounters/areas.

Also, I love the interaction between staff and playerbase; however, I also believe that sometimes it's stressful because sometimes GMs will be in a bad mood and take a stance on some issue, yet another GM will have a different stance on the same issue or view it in a different harshness and players will receive different penalties for the same offense. Like Thinkmeats suggested, maybe if something standard was implemented for all to see, it'd be more "fair" and professional to the playerbase instead of worrying that one you day you might accidentally piss off a GM and your characters are gone when another player did the exact same thing but just received a slap on the wrist.

In an environment like this, tempers flare. Staff, players, it happens to everyone. Tolerating and understanding the fact that players *do* get upset and angry since the game is just as meaningful to them as the staff would go a long way to promoting a great online environment for all to enjoy. This isn't to say that staff should tolerate idiots that repeatedly cause trouble; but, it's not unreasonable for staff to tolerate players that are great contributors but sometimes just get razzled because of circumstances.

7. How well a job do you feel the SoD staff is doing at present?

a) 8 out of 10.

8. What do you feel regarding low level (< 30) game balance on SoD presently?

a) Even with level restrictions on weapons implemented recently, I believe melee are overpowered at this level range with twinking. Regardless of whether or not twinking is "good," the point is that a twinked melee will sometimes outperform entire groups, while a twinked caster will never have the same prowess.

9. What do you feel regarding low level (< 30) game content on SoD presently?

a) Content is good, lots of diverse dungeons and a few options for every level range.

10. What do you feel regarding mid level (30-49) game balance on SoD presently?

a) Decent at this range, no comments.

11. What do you feel regarding mid level (30-49) game content on SoD presently?

a) Decent at this range, no comments.

12. What do you feel regarding high level (50+) game balance on SoD presently?

a) I believe right at the beginnings of Levels 60-65, casters are overpowered and it is the opposite situation of melee at the beginning of the game. With dungeons like Cmal and most raids, melee require months of gearing before they are at the level of performance of casters. However, the situation is tough to deal with because over time, melee become more powerful than casters because casters receive relatively less "improvement" per piece of gear than melee. For casters, a new spell is a big boost, but spells are limited. For melee, items are the big boost, and you could theoretically keep getting better and better items... the only way to counteract this is the introduction of new spells...

13. What do you feel regarding high level (50+) game content on SoD presently?

a) I believe Cmal has some issues with some melee classes being undesirable. It is one of those dungeons that nudges you to make a certain group to complete, especially if you are pushing the edge in terms of your skills/characters. Our 3-month old characters doing Cmal3 is challenging, and it forces us to exclude some classes in our groups because they would be useless (for example, extra melee classes other than the MT against Whirlwind mobs in Cmal3).

BUT, Cmal is the coolest dungeon in the game. Will there be more dungeons like it, but with perhaps a different slant so that melee are more desirable?

14. What do you think of the direction that SoD is taking at present with its updates (content versus fixes, usually)?

a) Good so far. Have not been around long enough to judge the content versus fixes :p

15. What is the most important factor that keeps you playing SoD (and EQ in general)?

a) Friends brought me in, and they are the reasons I play.

16. Finally, what would you wish for the absolutely most to be implemented onto SoD?

a) Fixes to the PL bug on raids requiring entire raids to relog.

b) Guild management / raid management windows!

c) Fixes to Group Bugs! Sometimes randomly dropping members, randomly inviting members, or inviting members that don't join properly, requiring a hundred Ctrl-Ds to be invited to groups, etc.

Sgath, wiz, dark elf, 4

4. How would you grade SoD? (On a scale from 1 to 10)
i would have to give it an 8

5. What do you like the most about SoD?
its more like old every quest (any thign after velious started bring the game down) before all the inflation, and the fact that it hasa very good back rounf story that is easy to learn if you look around a little, and alot of nice people, i coudl go on but i would never finish this post.....

6. What do you like the least about SoD?
ummmmmm...... the boats but we all know its not your fault wiz :D and the fact im not 65 yet lol

7. How well a job do you feel the SoD staff is doing at present?
i think really good, some people say you guys are ban happy of yadda yadda this and yadda yadda that, but i think you guys are just keeping a good game good by keeping out the power gamers and cheaters and people who are not "team" players

8. What do you feel regarding low level (< 30) game balance on SoD presently?
i belive its very ballanced, all class's can solo here if they so desire, and all class's add a little some thign to each groups.

9. What do you feel regarding low level (< 30) game content on SoD presently?
its very good, there are alot of places to go and some nice dungeons to hit so fun stats in the begining as aposed to just the high end, and adepts help people "learn" the core aspects of raids and lower lvl, and thus less highend raid wipe outs.

10. What do you feel regarding mid level (30-49) game balance on SoD presently?
good from what ive seen but im still new to this lvl range.

11. What do you feel regarding mid level (30-49) game content on SoD presently?
more dungeons WOOT WOOT!

12. What do you feel regarding high level (50+) game balance on SoD presently?

13. What do you feel regarding high level (50+) game content on SoD presently?
still not there yet ;(

14. What do you think of the direction that SoD is taking at present with its updates (content versus fixes, usually)?
i think SoD is on top of the ball doing both cus they are both inportant, plus if you add to much content to fast you end up with EQ live and thats a bad thing :sadf:

15. What is the most important factor that keeps you playing SoD (and EQ in general)?
well now there alot for me, sod is still a world with a small comunity and thats how i like it as aposed to a just a game with a b unch of power gamers (pointing at you again Live :finger: ), plus most if not all of the pople are very friendly(i like that alot), its fun with much less grinding away at the xp bar, and DEPT IS THE BEST THING EVER!!!! i dont even mind dieing we dont lose xp, and i just atribute working off debt to farming for some cash :D and the best part is there is no bazaar i thought that amde live much more "fake" since no one interacted as much.

16. Finally, what would you wish for the absolutely most to be implemented onto SoD?
maybe some more class secific items on adepts and raids so that one person dus not get every thing from every raid and more poepl will want to coem not just "the healers and tanks." and some more monk only gear im sick of getting mana and wis from every thing cus it for a beast lords as well as monks. sorry i know this sounds a little greedy and self oriented on my part me being a monk and all but im sick of people coming up to me and asking if i can cast DMF just because i have a robe on.
PS i dont like robes :D

oh and wiz when can make a sand castle in your sand box ;)

16. Finally, what would you wish for the absolutely most to be implemented onto SoD?
I can't think of a single feature I would prefer to having a richer world in general, in terms of items and story wtc. One thing I would love is to have the "Fin nearest target" button (default f8) work consistently.

5. What do you like the most about SoD?
The original EverQuest feeling, with a lot of great adjustments.

6. What do you like the least about SoD?
Hmm. It's hard to say as I am pretty low. The grouping bugs are irritating, I'll go with them.

7. How well a job do you feel the SoD staff is doing at present?
A great job. Lots of changes every other week, constant introduction of interesting new stuff.

8. What do you feel regarding low level (< 30) game balance on SoD presently?
It's pretty good, a bit rough for actual new player plate classes (balancing platemail weight and the desire to loot is tough), but it's designed that way, so no real qualms.

9. What do you feel regarding low level (< 30) game content on SoD presently?
Pretty good, we've had plenty of places to level, nothing ill to say about it. Except that Blackburrow needs less trains directly into my group.

Friends, the ability to constantly upgrade my gear and having plenty of game world to press further into.

Is any one going to read this? Lol

1. How long have you played SoD?

2. How did you hear of SoD?

3. What character(s) do you play? Name(s), class(es), race(s) and level(s). Put your "main" character(s) in bold.
----Halfling Rogue, 27 Rory. Gnome Magician, 25 Theodor
4. How would you grade SoD? (On a scale from 1 to 10)
----10. There are a lot of things I do not like, but since this is free and you guys are putting in a tremendous amout of work, I feel it is bad to complain.
5. What do you like the most about SoD?
----When I pick up gear to use with just average grouping, I like to see it has some nice stats, and even sometimes procs that are good for my level, not just cloth armor and rusted sword until level 40.
6. What do you like the least about SoD?
----I love how the quests work and how they give decent xp and rewards at the level you can do them, but there are just not enough =). Also, the fact that it is not a legit server, I often fear putting a lot of time into playing this, and having it taken away because the server could come down forever for any number of reasons.
7. How well a job do you feel the SoD staff is doing at present?
---- nineteen.5 thumbs up
8. What do you feel regarding low level (< 30) game balance on SoD presently?
----Sometimes it is hard to find groups, and you are often forced to group with someone you do not want to because they are rude or try to dualclient and are not very good.
9. What do you feel regarding low level (< 30) game content on SoD presently?
----Not a lot of difference, I have leveled 2 characters to lvl 25 and I went to the exact same places in the exact same zones in both.
10. What do you feel regarding mid level (30-49) game balance on SoD presently?
----N/A
11. What do you feel regarding mid level (30-49) game content on SoD presently?

14. What do you think of the direction that SoD is taking at present with its updates (content versus fixes, usually)?

15. What is the most important factor that keeps you playing SoD (and EQ in general)?
----Feed the addiction.
16. Finally, what would you wish for the absolutely most to be implemented onto SoD?
----More quests please, for all levels. And not just "go get me 2 of this thing and you get money" type quests either, I am watching you!

2. How did you hear of SoD?
Fires of Heaven forum post.
3. What character(s) do you play? Name(s), class(es), race(s) and level(s). Put your "main" character(s) in bold.
Rakeel Beastlord Iksar 65
Bilben Magician Gnome 64
Morak Cleric Dwarf 65
4. How would you grade SoD? (On a scale from 1 to 10)
9
5. What do you like the most about SoD?
Well thought out and entertaining raids and exp zones.
6. What do you like the least about SoD?
I cannot stress this enough Packet Loss and insta-LD bug
7. How well a job do you feel the SoD staff is doing at present?
Very well on adding new content, but at the cost of very old bugs staying around and new bugs being added in with the content with a long wait for the new bugs to be addressed.
8. What do you feel regarding low level (< 30) game balance on SoD presently?
Seems balanced to me, although "twink weapons" that are actually well within the range of a lower levels pocketbook still have too high of a req level, especially those under lvl 20.
9. What do you feel regarding low level (< 30) game content on SoD presently?
There are enough dungeons for the < 30 game but people tend to congregate in a select few and cannot be dragged out of them (this is more pronounced since the TL'ers were taken out), the new area bonus fades way too quickly at these levels and if the person can't two-box they are stuck with it if they want to group.
10. What do you feel regarding mid level (30-49) game balance on SoD presently?
No complaints.
11. What do you feel regarding mid level (30-49) game content on SoD presently?
Fine.
12. What do you feel regarding high level (50+) game balance on SoD presently?
I can only speak from my own experience with my characters, and from my mages perspective vs Wizards I can really see no reason to choose a Mage over a Wizard for a dps slot, the summons do not require the presence of the Mage in the group, they can be asked for beforehand or summoned by a bot and in the end game aside from dots/rods are largely worthless. The old argument was that Mages could match up by providing a DS for the group and a pet that supplied sustained, aggroless damage, a wizard on SoD can supply the proc buff + "manaless" nukes for sustained damage and use a low mana concussion to lower aggro.I do not in any way think that Wizards should be nerfed, I feel they are right where they should be, I do however think the Mage needs something, what that something is I'll leave to more intelligent minds. :)
13. What do you feel regarding high level (50+) game content on SoD presently?
Could use a few more dungeons for groups simply for variety not neccesarily for exp, and definitely a few more outdoor zones for solo/duo.
14. What do you think of the direction that SoD is taking at present with its updates (content versus fixes, usually)?
There definitely needs to be a greater concentration on bug fixes especially (you guessed it) the ancient and ever present PL/LD bug that affects all areas of the game from solo to duo to groups and ESPECIALLY to raids, it can be dealt with by relogging before a major fight but the extra downtime is a big hassle.
15. What is the most important factor that keeps you playing SoD (and the Game in general)?
Raids
16. Finally, what would you wish for the absolutely most to be implemented onto SoD?
Yes I am being extremely repetitive but PL/LD bug, this one (very hard to track down I'd imagine) bug being fixed would improve my enjoyment of the game TENFOLD.

1. How long have you played SoD?

Since May 2005

2. How did you hear of SoD?

I don't remember

3. What character(s) do you play? Name(s), class(es), race(s) and level(s). Put your "main" character(s) in bold.

Ginam, Bard, Wood elf, 65
Icarium, Cleric, Dark elf, 65

4. How would you grade SoD? (On a scale from 1 to 10)

9

5. What do you like the most about SoD?

The large amount of gm/admin feedback.

6. What do you like the least about SoD?

A lot of encounters are bugged when we first try them. I realize that a lot of the bugs are hard to find, and would require full raids to test them, and that I am generally among the first people to try new encounters. I would rather do bugged encounters then have large amounts of people knowing the strategy before the mob is even fought though. Lately when raiding new mobs we have had somoene around fixing the bugs (thanks Xeldan!) which has really helped this problem.

7. How well a job do you feel the SoD staff is doing at present?

Very good job

8, 10 What do you feel regarding low level (< 30) game balance on SoD presently?

No idea

9, 11 What do you feel regarding low level (< 49) game content on SoD presently?

The Adept mobs have really made playing lower level characters enjoyable, it gives goals, requires strategy and provides decent items for the levels. Me and my friends recently leveled up some, albeit quite twinked, alts and had lots of fun wiping on the adepts multiple times, and finally pulling them off.

12. What do you feel regarding high level (50+) game balance on SoD presently?

13. What do you feel regarding high level (50+) game content on SoD presently?

I think another high level exp zone would be good. I realize that highkeep has been under used, which really sucks after so much time is put into the zone. I just found it hard to treat the castle area of highkeep as an exp zone i guess. It could just be that i was away when it was implemented and most of the people i grouped with had figured out the zone by then.

14. What do you think of the direction that SoD is taking at present with its updates (content versus fixes, usually)?

The more content the better.

15. What is the most important factor that keeps you playing SoD (and the Game in general)?

Killing things with friends, both raiding and grouping.

16. Finally, what would you wish for the absolutely most to be implemented onto SoD?

Some more one group encounters similar to Summoner. Difficulties ranging from the Conclave up to any difficulty would be reallly enjoyable and possibly more on the lower end that wouldn't require the specific class selection that some of the more difficult encounters require. Also, it would be nice to be able to have multiple groups in cyrtho malath at the same time (yeah, i like cmal, what can i say)

7. An amazingly good job. The best I've seen in a player run server on any game.
8. I feel the <30 game balance is in order.
9. I feel that all the levels could use more hunting areas, but that's because im bored with the old ones : )
10. I think the 30-45 game balance is in order and good.
11. See above, although I find there to be more content in the 30-45 than pre-30 or post 45.
12. It's great, simple.
13. This category could use more soloable content imo, The Plaguelands, Darkwoods, and Red Sun Peaks get real tireing after a while.
14. I believe the staff is doing an excellent job with content, i'm just waiting for new contents and zones : )
15. A living, breathing world with roleplaying elements (And yes, I own the first three Elder Scrolls games).
16. Iksilith (or whatever its called) and the Lands of Magic (I know they were removed for many reasons, but they added a lot of hunting areas for the players)

1. How long have you played SoD?
Since April of '05, with a large break of about 6 months during the winter.

2. How did you hear of SoD?
Was searching internet for a single player version of EQ

3. What character(s) do you play? Name(s), class(es), race(s) and level(s). Put your "main" character(s) in bold.
Yohann 65 Human Wizard, Ciani 60 Erudite Enchanter, Bannon 59 Wood elf Bard,
Thwigit 48 Froglok Warrior, Judabo 35 Iksar Monk, Siara 26 Barbarian shaman, Philiac 25 Gnome Necromancer, Gribbins 22 Halfling Ranger

4. How would you grade SoD? (On a scale from 1 to 10)
7

5. What do you like the most about SoD?
It's free, and content is continuosly getting added

6. What do you like the least about SoD?
Bards are unrecognized. It is hardest to get into a group with my bard. And it is much harder to solo with my bard at this level then either of my other Main characters. Also the moon dissapearing bumed me out.

7. How well a job do you feel the SoD staff is doing at present?
Great job, some of the "fixes" I haven't been to pleased about but overall they are doing a wonderful job

8. What do you feel regarding low level (< 30) game balance on SoD presently?
Seems very balance, since at such low levels numbers seem to be more important that classes.

9. What do you feel regarding low level (< 30) game content on SoD presently?
It seems as tho it is catching up to he amount of high end content with all of the low level quests in the starting cities.

10. What do you feel regarding mid level (30-49) game balance on SoD presently?
This seems to be where classes become defined, and rounded groups are more desirable.

11. What do you feel regarding mid level (30-49) game content on SoD presently?
These levels seemed to go by much faster then any others, not entirely sure why, but I personally haven't spent much time around these levels exploring the content, i usually just grind through these.

12. What do you feel regarding high level (50+) game balance on SoD presently?
There are definetly classes that are more important once you hit 65, so it is harder to get a group if you dont lie playing a tank or cleric.

13. What do you feel regarding high level (50+) game content on SoD presently?
Extensive but I don't see much getting added, I'm new to 65 so I haven't explored a whole lot of the areas.

14. What do you think of the direction that SoD is taking at present with its updates (content versus fixes, usually)?
I enjoy the continued content, but some of the fixes I have found undesirable. I definetly like the fact that alot of the content/fixes are aimed at grouping. (treasure maps and adept monsters)

15. What is the most important factor that keeps you playing SoD (and the Game in general)?

16. Finally, what would you wish for the absolutely most to be implemented onto SoD?
Epics, a close second is the bard song system to go back to old ways.

8. What do you feel regarding low level (< 30) game balance on SoD presently? Its not too bad, wasn't a problem for me, except tanks not being able to keep aggro vs. a 30 dmg backstab lol
9. What do you feel regarding low level (< 30) game content on SoD presently? Theres a lot of content, but nobody goes to it because its out of the way
