question about boxing

i haven't tried boxing on this server yet but had a question before i did. i read about the no more than 2 boxing rule and wanted to know how can me and my girlfriend (who lives with me) both box at the same time when we use a router to connect and it reads the same ip address? just wanted to know cause i don't want to break the boxing rules.
 
Yes, that's fine, so long as it is two unique people boxing four characters. Jerison and myself did this all summer long with the only real downside being the attrocious lag we got from having a sub par connection and four EQ clients up and running in raid zones like Everchill.
 
Oh wow, I didn't even realise this was in the tech. support section to start off... good move. More people read this section anyway, or at least are more likely to respond.

I may as well also mention that if you are having bandwidth issues / ping issues due to having so much information strangling the connection, there are a few commands / settings you can enable.

/cmd filter 1 1

I believe that basically gets rid of all melee animations and a few other things. So instead of seeing 30 people swing at a mob, you just see them standing around having a beer. It's weird at first but once you get used to it you enjoy the fact that your connection isn't being crapped on.

Hmm... I can't seem to recall the other commands at the moment, it's been a while.
 
Boxing simplified is One physical person is not allowed to control more then two toons at a time.

That said if two people are behind the same router.. ie: U and yer GF..

They can both play two toons each without fear of reprisal.
 
From what I've heard, you have to actually clear it with the staff first, because it's technically still a violation. Just make sure the staff knows that you're playing two characters and someone else is playing the others.
 
When Jer and myself were confused, we just made a thread and Wiz said it was ok. So yeah, not sure who you would inform... I'd say you're fine though.

Just petition it, and we'll keep an eye on you, and might ask you to perform some tests, every now and then.
 
Thank you all :hug: Will do as requested. Justed wanted to cover my back end as I sometimes have friends over that are new and are playing and I still want to duel box but don't.
