Pvp ?

instead of teams fighting each other in pvp, having them complete increasingly difficult tmap type events would better guage their playing ability

not to say that killing people isnt fun or anything because it certainly is

Yes, but treasure from tmaps is random so this doesn't guage terribly much. I could spend 5 waves and do those waves very efficiently, but you could do one wave and almost completely wipe and get the treasure right after and then you "win" by virtue of being lucky, not good.

im sure that if there was a competition based around the completion of tmaps they could be balanced out to not only scale in difficulty but be evenly difficult across the board

Okay a Tmap race: The title of this thread is PvP which by definition is a player fighting another player, not a player racing another player. Player racing another player would indeed be a player competition, but a player competition against the environment or PVE. Therefor that is a seperate topic all together. The Tmap idea is a good idea, but it appears to me just doing one Tmap is enough of a challenge getting the people together and doing it. I have no problem critiqueing this idea, and many other ideas for that matter, but again this is another topic.

Lets look at pvp:

A lotta good ideas have been posted here: http://eqforums.station.sony.com/eq/board?board.id=PVP
More specifically here: http://eqforums.station.sony.com/eq/board/message?board.id=PVP&message.id=12972
I'm amarack5 on that board.

A lot of the problems eqlive has, Wiz has delt with already. Especially the problem of EQlive being too spread out.

I could even write up some rulesets that would be a lot of fun and then they could be voted on, and then 1 could be selected or they could be combined. I could also list known problems with pvp and solutions, and rank them in priority.Furthermore as an incredibly experienced pvper I would have no problem helping on the balance issues as that is the biggest problem any PvP game faces.

A pvp eqemu server was already made, a bunch of my old pvp guildmates played on it. Don't believe it's around any more, but one could possibly rise again. Would be a great opportunity for Wiz.

The reason that PvP in World of Warcraft is so awful is that it is practically nothing but stupid little mini-games. EverQuest faction PvP on Tallon and Vallon was superb in comparison, with the only real negative aspect being that teams were not hard-coded or the race/class combinations balanced for each team. If an alignment-based PvP system were "hard-coded" it would be very enjoyable without any additional arena zone or mini-game contest nonsense.

i agree halfly with iaeolan..
just put guildwar..

but .. dont you think forsaken would own anything?

Just add an arena zone, and maybe a few other with quests and stuff.

Or even... make the pvp flag a little more efficiency..
instead of runing over the guy and speak those words..
just put like /pvp *on* *off*
and u have like 1 day sod on it.. until u can return non-pvp

No I dont, and even if they did it's up to whoever accepted the guildwar and the organisation of its members. AFKing in Stormkeep won't prove a good strat for Forsaken engaged in a guildwar.

Allowing guildwar also assumes that members who are in these guilds conduct themselves in a competitive yet honorable way in pvp. The last thing the admins need are more petitions for lamesauce reasons.

still gotta look at class balance issues, just simplying getting everyone to guildwar won't work
