New to SoD havent even installed it yet, friend turned me onto this game. gonna wait until I have some more time net week. But is there a dedicated pvp server on SoD? I come from EQ and played on sullon then after the pvp server merge Zek.

There is only one game server, and pvp is optional through a flagging system. Most people don't but probably about 5-10% do.

Ah ok, so one server means a good population at all times of the day and night. I am comming from the pvp server on EQ and want to make sure that my transition to SoD I will have the same ability to enjoy the game as I do in EQ. I know there is going to be some trade offs but from what I hear this game is hacker free so that might be enough as long as there is some pvp.

this game is hacker free

We certainly do try to keep it that way. They spring up every now and then, but they don't last long.

Keep an open mind and don't get offended when you inevitably hear someone say "This isn't Live", and you just might find a new home here!

Hmm, so I am guessing when I end up asking a few questions in "OOC" and then compare it to "EQ" thats when that statement is going to come about. Which is fine. I am just looking for a hacker free game with some pvp and pve that I can enjoy LOL. EQ use to be like that.

You start in a guild called Dalaya's Beginners and it's usually very helpful as well. Many veterans to the game have alts in that guild so you can often get decent answers.

Additionally, we have a very active crew of folks that update the Wiki regularly. It is a great resource. Especially for someone who is new to the server. Unfortunately, rather than answer a question, people will sometimes /ooc "Check the Wiki!". This is not meant in a mean-spirited way. Only as guidance as the Wiki will often help with your follow-up questions as well.

tl;dr : Welcome to SoD, use Dalaya's Beginners and Wiki to get the most detailed information.

Good, neut, or evil?

Just had to ask.

I played Good on Sullon, but you wouldn't have known me, just hung out and solo'd a lot, for the most part.

When I first went to sullon I was an evil necro I played with my bro who was a cleric. Then rerolled Good and made a Ranger, then a warrior. Like a month before they announced the server merge I had made a SK on vallon and after the server merged to just "ZEK" I used my Warr to join top guild on the server then leveled up my SK made a cleric and boxed my Warr SK and cleric.

On this server I am thinking I will Dual box a "SK" and a "Shammie".

So I start in a guild? ok so I should hang there until I get to know people and the in's and out's of the server. I found the WIKI and have been reading it, but SoD seems very very close to how EQ is so I am thinking my questions are going to be rather light.

most of the basics are the same (as with most mmos, really. healers heal tanks tank dpsers die a lot...) but many things that people got used to in live are changed or completely nonexistent here.

I know what you mean, I created my accounts yesterday and some things I was thinking would have carried over didn't but some of the things have. All and all for a free version of EQ I cant complain and the people in the game have been very helpful so far. Kinda reminds me of how EQ was back in 1999 and 2000. I cant wait to get more into the higher end but in all honestly I dont think I will leave the "beginners" since from what I have seen on this sight and in OOC I should beable to pick up a raid almost anytime.

Hey, I was meaning to ask about how to get flagged for pvp with an account. I played on Vallon and miss the pvp aspect of the game.

Theres a few dudes around named like priest of war or something like that. Pretty sure there is one in Oggok, and there is definitely one in South Newport at the arena. Talk to him and follow the prompts. If you wish to unflag look for a priest of harmony in the same town.
