Thinking about starting up a public ventrilo server. I just joined SoD and haven't seen a public one that people could use. Are there any objections from the mods?

Also I'm curious to see what the demand is. It would be open to anyone who would want to use it, and if there are regulars I'd be willing to set up channels for people also. Not sure how many people I'd start the server out with so please post if you would like a public vent server.

There is one through the patcher already if I'm not mistaken. Never used it myself, I run a semi-private one. Most guilds have one, and one accrues quite a bit in the way of vent information once one becomes more involved in the community.
 
Mumble sees a fair bit of use although not as much as I had envisioned. About 3-4 groups spend an hour or more in there per day according to the logs.

I installed it from the patcher, but every time I try to run it, it crashes like instantly.

I'm not too worried about getting it going as my guild uses vent, but I thought it would be cool to use in maybe a pick up group or say when i'm helping my bro-in-law etc.
 
I'd use mumble, but for some reason it refuses to let me hear what other people say, thus I end up sticking with vent.
 
mumble is good idea but lots of people have vent servers. I cant get it to load on the computer i have a mic on or I would spend more time there.

Every once in a while I go in there and set up an open channel for Allielyn's Bedtime Stories, but nobody comes to listen. =*(

Edit: Wait. You are the one who told me that horrible one about the kid who like sold her parents, never mind :( That one made me sad.
 
See - Temellin's the nicest guy I know and even HE won't come to my channel. He gives me bad PR besides!

Revelation tried mumble for a while, Me and someone else had problems with it. It randomly crashes my EQclient. I run fine when its not up and vent runs fine. But mumble h8s me with a passion.
