Pets and aggro

Can pets hold aggro with a PC in melee range?

I'm considering a few different 2-box combos, with rogue being a possibility.

depends what pets we are talking about... magician pets can hold agro... beastlord pets couldnt even spell agro if it bit them in the arse.

Charm pets, when used properly, can definitely hold aggro even when players are in melee range.

The animation, not so much, but it's still useful for other things.

Enchanters get the Trickster's Augmentation at uh, 52(?) which gives the pet a chance to proc a hate generating spell (also able to cast on PCs), which is really useful if you don't have the perfect group make-up. Sadly, it can only be cast in zones that allow levitate, because it adds that as well.

Mage pets can mostly hold aggro from rogues if you evade every now and then, but don't start off with a huge backstab when your evade is not maxed and fails a lot ;)

I group with mah buddy Vlos and he can hold aggro just fine with a charmed mob. Granted, the thing breaks and I have to save his arse a lot but then again, with the DPS of a plagueracked puma on our side I wont /complain.

Puma's hold alot better aggro than most things. They also have much higher dps than normal for their range.

Beastlord pets on SoD hold aggro just fine if you like using stances to help control who has aggro, you or your pet. It helps manage who has damage and so forth. I guess it also helps increase the benefit of Beastlord regen spells and Iksar regen if you have that.
