Pet Controls

Any chance pets can be made slightly more controllable. I find most of the time I die on my mage it's due to my pet focusing on the creature that's hitting him when I'm trying to get him to take the aggro of another off of me. With the fast rate of attack most mobs have, I have to spam the back off command to get him to come back towards me. Basically I would like to see a control added to override the hate list at least long enough to save the pet's master, if possible. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

A "Guard Me" command that tells the pet to ignore all other aggro but the mob attacking you. I'm all for it.

I myself on my wizard (sword animation) and enchanter, i often find pets unresponsive, specially when you try to call it back ("Back" button). On my wizard animation, it simply never ever comes back, and on my enchanter you must click many times before it comes back. This is particularily frustrating when you are trying to root a mob because the sword animation/chanter animation will often continue attacking the mob, causing it to break the root almost instantly. In most cases, i have to destroy ("Go away" button) my pet to prevent disasters.

Agree, my pet Herbert also rarely obeys and likes to get me killed
What Voodoognome said, would be really cool.

I would like this, too. Perhaps "back" could be altered so that a pet won't fight back when hit. My problem is I'm trying to call off my pet so he doesn't get killed, and the mob hits him and re-aggros him.

I've had trouble getting my pet to stick on one target. My goal is to concentrate the dps on one target. I often find my pet switching targets mid fight. I can back him off and get him to attack the target I want, but often times he will just switch targets again.

I just observed the following behavior: ordered my pet to attack a goblin. He engaged and then an add came. Pet promptly switched to the add. Then he switched back. Then he switched back again. Then he switched back again. He switched back a total of 8 times before he finally settled on which gobbo he wanted to eat. Only thing I can think of is his behavior is like a tank who's trying to take aggro on everything. I'd prefer it if he would just obey his master instead of trying to think for himself.

Wizard animations are 'dumb'. They only respond to attack and go away.

With my beastlord, I can pull mobs along with my pet by spamming the 'back' button. Keep in mind, your pet is a mob. It is going to react in similar ways as mobs. If it gets attacked while moving along, it will attack back. I can keep pretty good control on my pet by using some quick 'back' and 'attack' commands to have it switch targets, if my pet is on the wrong one. When my pet is being attacked by two mobs, it constantly switches between them because each is stealing my pet's aggro.

If you get aggro over your pet, you'll likely need to sit there for a second and take some beats until your pet is out aggroing the mob again.

There is an AA you can buy called 'pet hold' which causes your pet to do nothing until you command him to act as normal. I haven't bought it yet, and I'm still hoping it gets replaced by something that all pet classes could use, like a more pet dps AA for example. *cough*cough*
