Patcher will not connect to shardsofdalaya.com

Running windows 7 64 bit.

Click SODPatcher, put in my EQ directory click "Patch and Run"

The message tells me
"Checking for new version of the patcher"

and wait....wait... then i get the error:

Unable to contact the server with diagnostic information. Please check your internet explorer settings and ensure you can connect to http://shardsofdalaya.com and rerun the patcher.

Now I don't run IE... Chrome/Opera yes.

I do not have any windows fire wall running atm.
WOrk offline is NOT checked in IE.

Any thoughts?
 
same thing here on my laptop....can connect to the sites with IE, and when I plug in the ..blah..patlist.php?file=patcher it shows a string of characters, so I am assuming it can connect to that, but the patcher still shows the diagnostic information error... .net seems fully upgraded, I use firefox, but have IE 8 installed...ugh
 
I had some spyware that set internet explorer to use a proxy server (lots of spyware does this). I killed the spyware but didn't notice the proxy thing until I couldn't connect to the patcher (and IE couldn't connect to anything either). All I had to do was remove the proxy in IE under tools > options, connection, LAN.
 
If you have something messing with your IE options you can always go into internet options and click "Return to defaults"
