Patcher stops patching..HELP!!

Un1BaLLeR

Dalayan Beginner
I have done the following:

I loaded Everquest: Trilogy (classic, kunark, vellious)
I loaded Shadows of Luclin

I ran the Actual Everquest Patcher.

I downloaded SoD patcher zip. Unzipped the "Release.zip" file into the Everquest Trilogy file (This is the only Everquest file that I have.). Double-Clicked the sodpatcher.exe file from within the Everquest file, and sent a copy to my desktop. When the Shards of Dalaya patcher appears, I clicked "advance". I unchecked "EQW", then I clicked RePatch ALL. I close the advanced window, and then click "Patch and Run".

When the text in the patcher gets to:

"Patching: generalcommands.html"

it stops and then doesn't do anything else.

Anyone have any clues as to what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Un1BaLLeR, nice name

I have this exact same problem!

My best friend Jonathan was able to get it working no problem, though.

The only difference between our setups are that his EQ folder is called, "Everqeust", while mine is called, "Everqeust Trilogy" (sic on gamename, of course).

Do you think this has anything to do with it??

HELP US SoD FORUMS!

My patcher does the exact same thing, and i've been playing SoD for a while now. The patcher has ALWAYS worked before, then one day my client randomly crashed and the patcher decided to put in its 2 week notice. Havent had any luck at all getting it fixed.

No, this wouldn't be the cause of the problem. My computer has "EverQwest" and my wife's computer has 'EverQwest Trilogy' and both work fine (sic on game name as well).

If you haven't downloaded it yet, get the Microsoft DotNet Framework v1.1 patch here.

Your problem doesn't sound like the usual kind when lacking the .Net, but I've heard of a bunch of different problems that downloading it has fixed, and experienced one or two myself.

And for any admins, I still think that the patcher fix thread should be stickied, with a link to the .net download.

I already have Microsoft.NET installed on my computer. I looked under control panel add/remove programs, and it was there, along with the HotFix.

It seems as though there are a few of us out there with this same problem, but no one has been able to solve this problem ...it seems.

I wanna play ;(

Thanks for the replies thus far though. I KNOW someone will be able to help.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!

Thank you for your help everyone.

Simple solution...I feel kinda dumb, but hey...life = lessons learned.

Anyhow, I simply disabled my Norton Internet Security during the patching process.

See everyone in game.

Nice!

Thanks Un1BaLLeR!

This worked for me as well!

Yes KingKory,

When I was born I had only one lonely nut. At the age of 4 the doctors cut me open to see if it had not dropped. They found nothing up in me. So, to this day, 30 years later, I still only have one nut, and a long scar through my pubic hair.

However, sometimes, when I get sexually aroused, it seems as though there is a swelling in the scrotum besides my lonely testicle. I personally think that my lost testicle is not lost, just "deflated".

The only drawback to having one nut is that sometimes I'm a wee bit sensitive, prolly from the decrease in testosterone. The bonus, is that I am able to relate a teeny bit better to women, making it much easier to get in their pants.

Thanks for caring.

Reminds me of an incident I had around 17 with a barbwire fence..

Details are rather dragging but I still remember the look on that nurses face when I walked (hobbled barely) into the emerg with my hands holding the .. you get the idea ..

Bandage changes were interesting to say the least. lol

heh thanks this worked for me too. Stupid norton at work. McAfee at home didn't stop it.

Yeah, i've heard of alot of problems with this game and Anti-virus progs. I have to turn off my AVG everytime I play because it slows down the game for me and causes hiccups when opening and closing stuff in inventory.

Do you disable the virus program entirely? If so, all you really need to do is go into the AVG Resident Shield and uncheck 'Scan Documents' and that will stop the hiccups.

this is really pissing me off....

i got the stops at generalcommands thing....turned off anti virus...now norton yells at me every 20 seconds saying that im not protected....

and now it stops at populating hashtable...

and norton keeps yelling at me...and i get this other error within the patcher when i stop it and restart...

any help?

i too still have this problem, im gonna re-intall everything and see if it works in 3 days after all the patching
