I should really shut up on paladins, I know jack .. uh, something or other about them on this server (The fact that lenny as a pally won the PvP event just has me flabbergasted, but anyway..).
As a live paladin, there's two ways you can go in my eyes: One handed with lower damage output, but a better taunt ratio, and more AC from your shield; Then there's the super2hander option where your alteration is like, THREE, and all you do is hit stuff, but not as well as a warrior.
I tend to prefer the former, mostly because I'm not a warrior, and it affords lots of advantages. Usually you swing faster (Gawd, with AQ I was like a friggin windmill!) and have a better hit/miss ratio, but not only that, bashing with the shield taunts like a mofo, saving your cleric/enchanter/shaman from healing/mezzing other mobs while you try to pull it off them with a 45/20000 weapon or something.
A quick suggestion might be a line of one handers (Either mace based or sword based, depending on your general view of paladins on the server), and a line of two handers that'd almost be mutually exclusive. Like the 2handers are dropped off mobs that do little damage, but have insane amounts of HP for their level, while the one handers drop off mobs that cast (Forcing you to use a shield/sword combo) and have few(er) hp.
But what do I know.
