Ya I thought about doing this too, for either the WoW or EQ2 client. But thus far it has been just a dream!

Do it with Vanguard! It's such an amazing game but it's managed so badly by SOE. Besides the fact that it is utterly abandoned in terms of getting people to play it, the core game itself is like some kind of abused child locked away in a darkened room. It has the best combat of any MMO I've played (and I've played almost all of them), it has a gigantic world, great classes, etc. But it just needs a bit of development.

I loved vanguard, Up until it killed my computer one day but I really enjoyed the world/tradeskills in it. I thought about trying it again after giving up after the horrendous launch/my comp dying due to it(100% verified fact) but couldn't be assed. I just assumed it died off into obscurity with <40k players or something sad.
