Ornate Giant armor in comparison to Deepmetal/Shadowsilk

Just raising a small point but, It doesn't seem entirely easy to get a set of tradeskill armor made easily anyways (including fails).
Thats not even considering not all the Grandmaster tradeskillers will constantly make the armor but i could be horribly wrong.
I can't ever seem to find Deepmetal plate armor on sale =/

when you could have just farmed some cash, decked a tank in deepmetal and gotten upgrades from other raid zones. As I have stated before basically all ornate is used for right now is the clickies and just something you have to farm to get combine.
or farm some cash, start a casino, deck yourself in deepmetal gear(fomelo mr belkrabam)

Honestly I think tradeskills are fine as is. I like that you can depend on the players as a source for better gear than just "crap" like warp/ghost metal/whatever, and I think it's important to the economy that tradeskilling survives and competes with raid gear up to a certain level. Imo the way things are now is perfect, and not a lot of people are farming up money to buy shadowsilk/imp hide/deepmetal gear. There's also gear out there that isn't no drop nor tradeskilled but is raid worthy too. We all know that stuff all too well, uber rare gear farmed in FR or hk or where ever by Forsaken or Ruin or whoever to sell.

I see where you're coming from, but my viewpoint is this.. you don't work on ornate armor for the ornate armor. You do it for the combine armor, and I don't see ornate being changed because of this. If tradeskilled gear rivaled combine gear, then I'd agree with you.

If your in a guild that does NDHK every week you SHOULD be working on ornate armor for the ornate armor, but people don't because its shit and deepmetal is easier to get and better, especially when you can combine the clicky from ornate with deepmetal. Either the HP/MANA on ornate pieces should be raised due to how much harder it is, or the gem rate in NDHK/SE needs to improve drastically.

XP rate for the respective zones could be increased as well. XP there is pretty slow for the difficulty and the only real incentive to do it is for the faction, which takes forever and has very little incentive to do as was stated.

You are absolutely correct, but this is the problem being discussed... a full set of quest armor shouldn't be there just as a prerequisite to another set. It should have some place in the overall scheme where it is useful itself.

I think the ideas proposed above to reduce the difficulty of the trash in NDHK, and increasing the drop rate of marvelous gems, would give this armor a place between stormforged and tradeskilled, so that an up-and-coming guild beyond EDHK/WDHK trash, but not yet capable of the NDHK named could outfit it's members with Ornate armor.

That is exactly what draconic and stormforged armor is, prior to ornate. It's on par with like wyvernhide and warpmental.

And most people are saying ornate is just being seen as a stepping stone to combine, since its shit :[

I agree moreso now than I did earlier. Perhaps gem drop rate should be improved because it is a lot of work for gear that many consider to be crap in this day and age. But as far as stats go, make it the same as tradeskillled gear or damn near the same, little bit worse or little bit better won't matter. I just don't agree with changing it a lot since it'll put it too much in line with combine and make combine not all that important to get anymore(not that anyone was demanding drastic changes, but just saying.) So maybe two aug slots is the way to go here. Rethinking the gem drop rate, I don't think it really matters if you get it any easier. It's still going to be "crap." I'm just wondering if the masses are going to spend the money for the augments to put on the gear. Buying two augments ranging from 170 to 750pp each for shadowsilk/deepmetal/imp hide gear is one thing, buying it for "crap" no drop gear that has a combine upgrade at a later date is entirely something else.
