Hey guys, I was just curious if it was possible to have a newsletter? Maybe not a monthly one, but I was thinking whenever we must do something drastic to get onto Winter's Roar, just mass email 'change patchset.txt to 67.15.24.48' or something. And just for everyone that signs up for it.

Quite truthfully, going to fansites is tedious and I like to minimize all I have to. Not just this one, guilds in EQ, everquest.com and such, I hate it and maybe went to my guild site once a year, always get into arguments and stuff because of the trollers on the boards. If not, sigh, I guess I'll come in check and run from the fights on message boards lol. (Same with IRC for information, horrible imo)

Part of the problem with the website being down, is I believe the e-mail server is also down, making a newsletter a bit difficult...

Not to mention, most e-mail clients and free-mail websites would instantly place a mass mailed newsletter into the junk folder or bulk folder and few people would actually get it.
 
Eventually I plan on putting together a slightly more comprehensive quest listing on the BT Forums.. but I have to fix my MySQL server and webserver software.. It's acting up quite a bit. ;(
 
Well, I don't like the internet period. It's bothersome, a mess, and full of inappropriate content. I just play the games.

And to the mass mailing thing, you can just tell hotmail to accept anything from Winter's Roar. And if the person is not willing to check a box, then they would not have signed up in the first place for the email.

I'm sure if the WR Staff thinks a mailing list is appropriate or worth their time they'll implement it.

But personally.. I think if someone can take their time to read their e-mail, then they can check a board on occasion or get an RSS Feed to a board. Only my opinion though. :)
 
What? Of course they will implement if they will, that is why I am posting to give them the idea. Come on man...

And, how is email anything like forums? Forums you have to deal with people that spend their lives on computers, with email you can just contact the people you know in your life. It's completely different. Lol, see, this is why I hate forums, is because people will sit there and pick apart your ideas when truly it should only be picked apart by administration.

I would love it if administration would talk this over in this channel, since I am not 'Suggestions and Requests'ing this to Steihl. If they share his opinions, great! Just as long as I tried hehe

This forum is not only for the WR staff to address peoples suggestions and ideas, it's for all of us to discuss the ideas and suggestions. The staff normally won't react to the suggestion of one person, rather they react to what the community thinks of a request, and how feasible for it is to implement a suggestion.

Right now, however, I can guarantee there are things a hell of a lot higher on a priority list.

I myself have actually considered implemented a newsletter for WR after I have my website up and running.

You must, however, realize..

A.> Inappropriate content on the internet: One.. it's all over TV and in books two. Two.. in the game you run around killing people, and beasts.. how much more appropriate can we get here?

B.> People who spend a lot of their lives on the internet: Hello.. you're playing a massively addictive MMPORPG... ?? ?? Most of the people who play these games spend a great deal of their time on the internet. I work in Internet technologies and do freelance consulting.. My business is to know internet trends. i.e. You're practically insulting most of WR's Staff and player base.

If you don't like my opinions, my suggestions, and my ideas.. you don't have to listen or respond to them.. but I have my freedom to sure them as I feel.

Now please, stop trolling this post. Out of all respect, please. I just want this to be a clean request, now there is 10 junk posts. 105 posts in 20 days, I see how now.

Steihl was no where near trolling this thread. Also, is a newsletter a good/bad idea? Well, TBH I wouldnt want a newsletter as I have made it a habbit to check here atleast once a day, esp if I am going to play on WR. Seems like you are frequenting here a bit also. It is not hard to browse the thread titles, and if something that may interest you is there, read it. If not, well just do bother to even open the thread.

Just because someone disagrees with your opinion doesnt mean they are out to derail your thread or idea. They are just doing what you did....express thier opinion.

Actually, the majority of my posts are in technical support forum, I believe, or making valid contributions to suggsetions and ideas.. I -am- allowed to express my opinion, I'm sorry it wasn't in line with your opinion.
