Just to preface... I am suggesting this a player not a staffer (perhaps it's something I msised, I'm too lazy to log into IRC and ask =P).

I'd like to suggeset that we create a link under the "News" tab where players can view archived news entries. I was responding to a post where a player had returned after a year of inactivity and wanted to know what has been changed in game since then. I tried to use my add/edit news log privies and still couldn't view anything from over a month ago. Does Cute News allow archiving of news, and if so is there a way we can link a log of the old news entries via the main page (under "News")?

If not I would like to suggest that Devs post their news entries to a forum somewhere, viewalbe by players, for easy "searching" as well as via Cute News.

this is really a good idea, easiest would be to have a forum with all the patch messages in it

I think this is a great addition.

On a similar note:
Id love to see old Balancing Discussions threads.

-- Because (from what ive heard) several changes have been implemented without a news post on the main page but had a BD thread about them.
 
sounds like a great idea. i saw all that info you have the person just coming back.... a lot of info to take in lol. pretty meticulously recorded and well kept. getting its own section would be a great tool for new people coming to SoD who are interested in the lore as well as game play changes over the years. besides, would save you tons of time as the unofficial records keeper ;)
 
Is there any methodology to the order in which the news archive links are displayed? If there is one, I couldn't figure it out. =P Could they be made to be in chronological order (newest on top to oldest on bottom)?

Nope, it looks like he ninja-changed it or I was looking at an old screen again. This is exactly what I was suggesting. Thanks again!
