Newport Monk Quest

Howdy I'm a bit curious if this one is working. I followed the directions on the wiki. Found the guy hailed him and sat down for over ten minutes (probably 16) to be exact and then hailed him again but it just said that he didn't move. I tried again with myself just sitting there when I first hailed him and sat for another 15 or so minutes but when I hailed again I got nothing.

Any tips from people who have completed the quest?
 
As far as I know, Drotic wouldn't have posted the quest if it weren't working. Now a month or so has probably gone by since he finished the quest (I'm not entirely certain) but if I'd assume anything, it would be that the quest is still working. Perhaps wait a bit longer? You followed the instructions up to that point? Or did you just find the guy and then sit next to him? That could be why.. although I don't see why it would have any bearing the situation.
 
foolproof method:

1. hail once
2. sit down
3. go eat/do something for 30 minutes
4. come back
5. item will be in your inventory

worked for me
 
I did this quest a few weeks ago. The quest guide said to wait for 10 minutes or so, but this was not the case. I think the item dropped for me after around 20 minutes. It also didn't go into my inventory, it was dropped on the ground. I think I missed it the first time because the item dropped and either vanished before I saw it (I was afk awhile), or was dropped in the hill somehow.

The next time I made sure he was facing me away from the hill just to be safe. You'll see the text when it's dropped.
 
I believe you have to refrain from talking while you do this. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it seemed like this was the case when I did this one.
 
you cannot type a single character anywhere on your screen. do not hit sense heading. do not type /ooc hey what's up. when i did this quest that was the only way it worked to me. a bag appeared on the ground around 11minutes afterwards.
 
When I did this quest, I waited for about 25 mins, and when the item appeared, it appeared on the ground a little ways away. Had to kind of search for it before I found it.
