Newport Faction

For quite some time now, I have been attempting to raise Newport faction...
Currently on worst possible faction with everyone due to assisting too many ppl with grobb neck quest and then having a few drinks and going on a killig spree :) Therefore I need literally truckloads of tokens (after I get out of scowling to citizens which needs even more truckloads of crops) to raise the faction.

The best return for effort at the moment seems to me to be anihilating B/Burrow for gnoll ears. Now this upsets the low levels XPing there to no end.. (especially since the gnoll ears were made no drop and removed a source of income for the low levels) Same with crop farming..Its an enormous time sink and once again denies low levels a source of income.

So my suggestion:
Would it be possible to make the cyclops in Gorge of One Eye on opposing faction to Newport? Have the cyclops toes be able to be turned in for say 10 tokens (purely an example figure)

This would take the higher levels out of blackburrow (freeing it up for the levels that should be in there), give them some XP (in some cases) and income for effort.

Just a suggestion..

I would love this, of course. However, to be totally fair/honest. Just based on my whacky factioning adventures. Getting to ally with newport takes the same time as ally to giants or dragons. A few days. It's a ton of work for a specific purpose.

HOWEVER (big one) I think there needs to be a viable alternative to gnoll ears, as the lowbies do get terribly frustrated. Also, a double check to make sure faction gain is on par with dragon/giant to be absolutely fair. yay.

i'm just gonna bump this and not make a new thread.

any quest where it takes this long to get faction needs to be looked at. everyone i play with is off getting experience while i'm stuck in paw... for another week... killing greens and generally pissing off the people there that deserve to be getting experience.

i would much rather be farming heads in everchill but the orcs there are red... red! you'd think after blackburrow... and paw... the next step (from warmly to ally) would be something that i could kill - i was so happy to be out of paw that i ran as fast as i could to everchill... only to be disappointed.

i'm venting i guess but i've turned in like more heads than i can count, i think i've brought my number of kills up past 3k in the past few weeks alone just in paw. i hate this quest more than anything and will be happy never to step foot in that zone ever ever again. (and all of my friends who have done or are doing this quest feel the same way).

i wish quests like this didn't have to be soooooo repetative and boring. and tedius. faction quests make me want to fall on my sword.

...and of course i make it to ally five minutes after i post this.
Grats!!

Did you do it entirely with liodreth heads? I was under the impression that they could only get you up to kindly or something.

You can get to ally with Blackburrow, so I would assume liodreth heads will as well

How long ago did you get ally with gnoll ears? That shouldn't be possible anymore.

I'd support doing something to get the high level faction farmers out of Blackburrow. It's nowhere near the problem it used to be, but it still happens. It only takes 1 farmer to completely dirsrupt low level hunting grounds. I've been the farmer (I try and avoid the areas being currently hunted) and I've been the lower level who's group is trying to find a single gnoll to kill. It's really a bad deal for both sides.

Maybe move the hunt for faction to another zone? I like the idea of the Gorge as it's not heavily hunted. Maybe the undead gnolls in East Badlands? Undead in Highpass? Corrupted spectres who seem to be all over the map? Freeport and the Plaguelands look like they could use Newport's help as well. Spread out the faction hunt and get the higher level kitty head farmers the heck out of paw as well. The quest team could have a field day here I think.

oh it's possible... i talked to a friend that finished this the other day, and he went all the way up to warmly with ears. i told him... "i thought wiz fixed it so you can't do that anymore?" he told me it was definately not fixed.

anyway he finished way faster than i did by turning in like 200+ gnoll ears... and said they were MUCH faster than heads.

You can definitely get to ally with liodreth heads, unless things have changed since summer. It just requires some illusions and smart thinking.

I'd really like it if you got a small bit of faction just by fighting the liodreth/everchill orcs. I see the reason that we don't have it with gnolls is so that high levels don't farm them but when an entire group is xping on liodreth its no fun to have to roll on the heads. The collecting and turning in of those objects takes some of the fun away from the game and almost turns it into a chore.

I agree with the rolling on heads in Paw. I grouped in Paw for awhile back when I was that level and only saw around 10 heads total, I think one of which went to me. Part of that was my horrible rolling skills and my good natured belief they should go to someone who knew about the quest, because at that time I was pretty ignorant about the Newport gate neck.

Anyway, as far as it becoming a chore, it's not mandatory. I remember somebody saying something along the lines of if you don't want to do the quest, don't do it and live without the reward. Yeah, it's a pain to do, but come up with ways to make it more intersting. I for one am solo leveling an Alt around the Paw area and have my main camped near by to log in and loot the heads. What this means is I 1) get exp for killing the liodreths and 2) still get heads for my main without just farming greens. I know it's slower kills, but the fact I'm getting exp helps off set that, and I can almost clear the liodreths outside of paw before they start to respawn :)

EDIT: To fix my horribly blatant spelling errors / wrong word errors. . .

I'm coming into the thread a bit late, but I've been playing a froglok and decided to get Newport faction.

Long story short, you can get faction from Footpad's in the badlands. I killed the camp with Neriak in West BL around 15 or so. You give their heads (not no drop) to the guard standing on top of the Newport gate. There are stairs inside the towers to the sides.

He gives you 2 bounty tokens for each head. They aren't the Greater Tokens from Liodreths and the like, but it's another place to get faction, 2 for the price of 1, and the only person I saw there after a few hours was just after Neriak's amulet.

There will be a solution coming for higher level players to gain faction once I can get it patched in. No details other than that for now.

Everchill orcs is already there.

Mid high levels -- Paw is green in the 50's, and everchill orcs are too hard. I assume. I don't actually know this. I like assuming!

That makes more sense.
