Newport faction issue?

So my half elf paladin is currently indifferent to Newport Guards. My shaman, an iksar, is amiable. He got there by turning in a bunch of bounty tokens--the usual. I decided it was about time to get faction up for both toons and work toward that gate neck. I farmed away in blackburrow for some time the other night and got 13 ears. Turned in the 13 tokens in a stack, and got zero faction increase with guards (still indifferent, no faction increase messages). I thought that was odd, but whatever. So I turned in a stack of Greater Bounty Tokens (from liodreth heads). Again, no faction increase at all. Still indifferent.

Apparently I wasted 13 bounty tokens and 18 greater bounty tokens. My understanding was that you could get to amiable with regular, and either kindly or warmly with greater. I petitioned to see if I could either get the faction or the tokens back, but received no response from the three or four times I tried petitioning. This leads me to wonder if I'm just doing something wrong, and my petition is getting deleted--but everyone I've talked to says it sounds like I'm bugged or some such.

Can anyone tell me if there's some other factor at play here, or if I'm just bugged and there's been no GM on to respond when I've petitioned?
 
I too was wondering if something had happened to Newport factions. My Half-Elf pally friend was kindly like a week ago. He's been playing a necro, and when he's back tot he pally, he's indiff.

My shammy was dubious, worked with all those newbie quests and got to aprehensively, and now he's back to dubious :?. Maybe I'm just paranoid ;).
 
Yesterday I tried to do some crop collecting for the famer to raise Newport faction and received zero faction increase messages as well. Just received coin. Not sure if there's been a change or something's bugged.
 
It's not bugged - those quests(and tokens) will only take you so far in faction. You'll need to do more challenging quests to get your faction up higher.
 
Hi, i'm bernat's friend and my character Galaguer is a half-elf paladin too, but he was kindly before the server change name. I was 7 months witohut playing SoD and when i came back i started a necro, when i know the existence of the newport amulet I enter with my "main" and go to newport (without nexus :sadf: ) and when i consider a newport guard i appear indiferent to him.

Well now i'm killing sewer rats, giant beetles (these two until i have 40 of each) and gnolls but I am still indiferent, i don't know if this is an issue or if these quests are so trivials that the faction it gives is minimal, by the way, are there any other quest for earn faction faster, i hear something about killing the kittens in southern badlands maybe?

I'm aware of that fact, but why is it that my shaman went from dubious to amiable on just bounty tokens, while my paladin is unable to get above indifferent (starting at indifferent, if I remember correctly) even with greater bounty tokens? Is it a function of level or something?
 
The reason your petition didn't get answered is because only QDs are eligible to answering quest related petitions.
 
I get the same problem sometimes with faction. I get amiable with newport, then I camp (I always type /cmd save) and when this happens... I come back on and I'm indifferent again... NO idea why though.
 
remember, the faction you want to receive is with the citizens. con a guard, and you are looking at the WRONG faction needed. Con the guy that gives the gate necklace, that's the one that is important. It's totally different faction.
 
well, but when you gain faction with citizens gain faction with guards too, anyway my pally is so indiferent to the citizens like to the guards. I'll keep on trying it...
