Newport faction alternatives

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to raise faction in newport? I killed a slave in N. Badlands and I took a massive faction hit and am now KoS. I was wondering if there is something I can kill to get this faction back or if farming a ton of gnoll ears and having someone give me an illusion to turn everything in is the only way I can get my faction back. Kinda lame how I took a facion hit from some starnge mob that was so huge. /shrug what's done is done just need ideas on getting it back.

You should always hail an NPC that isn't default KoS to make sure they don't give out quests prior to killing them. Even then, you risk taking a faction hit as generally mobs are on a faction.
 
I hailed him a few times and he didn't say anything back to me. I know of a couple people I have warned about killing the slave that almost have. This was about 3-4 days ago.

I'll copy an old post of mine in guild forums for you... I too went KOS.. but was able to fix it before the current methods of gaining newport faction were in place...

I have been working rather long and hard on getting my newport faction back.. I hit worst possible faction after assisting a few guildies with grobb necks and then having a rather drunken brawl.. Cyrus invited every SNP guard to have a drink with him... the guards all attcked me - they wiped!!

So I thought no problem - I'll just wack a few gnolls and get it all back.. WRONG!! Once KOS, you can hand in tokens all day long and get zero faction! the only way to do pennance was to eat a slice of humble pie... and go assist the newport farmers... each crop is picked up separately, then dropped in pack, then taken out singly and handed to the named farmer,...

It took me over 6000 crops and 2 weeks (well I did kind of get another faction setback during the process when I LD'd in NP with a 45hp DS on me) plus High Elf illusion, plus ambassadors writ to get to Dubious to the desk sergeant so he would reward tokens again.. 6000 crops.. that is 24000 individual mouse clicks!! (RSI anyone?)

Needless to say that now 350 gnoll ears (48 hours) later Nern has his covetted Amulet of Newport and is a very happy camper!

Those of you who are conemplating screwing with your NP faction... this is how you get it back!!

This is no longer possible that I know of, since the patch two weeks ago which changed how quests can be completed(i.e. quests being repeatable, one-time, etc). You can no longer complete many of the quests if your faction is threateningly or lower.
 
In general, it's terribly hard to repair city factions. This is design, since murderers aren't the most tolerated people around.
