New Tomes

Spiritplx

I have been farming pretty hard for my charm lately, and have been plowing through the tome exp. while doing so. I was just curious if new tomes were still being developed and what types of tomes we may expect in the future! Just did not want to be wasting exp. after I maxed tomes and was still farming for my charm~

New tomes coming out have a special effect that decreases song effectiveness and decrease previous tome exp

Enjoy! :toot: :toot: :toot:

This isn't chillville. Thanks for shitting up an actually constructive thread with bullshit nonsense.

Anyway. I also would like to see some more tomes when wiz has time to code them in, because that would be really cool to see the different things that all of them could do, especially class specific ones.

Dont you think that at some point the progression just has to end? I mean, more and more powerfull toys keep getting added... hi live's downfall :(

Well, I think some people may want some variance in the exp. they obtain. Not everyone is a psycho like myself (and a few others) that keep working on these tomes, and in fact, most people don't work on tomes at all. Warriors and enchanters kind of get the shaft on these tomes as most of enchanters dps comes through Giantkin and curses, while warriors just don't do dps at all. Having other choices to work on may excite some people enough to start exping again. Defensive tomes, class specific tomes, or archetype specific tomes would be really cool. With tomes (currently) being about 200aa per completion, it won't "ruin" the game because only a select few will really finish all of them. I just knew the staff had mentioned eventually putting more out. I am curious what ideas they had.

Also, Ryu, yeah it is pretty irritating having you post Chillville posts in all of my non-Chillville threads. Stop plx.

Why does it have to end?

Live's downfall was(IMO) the fact that there was a new expansion with (badly)re-written lore/new zones with that extra +50 hp and mana on each item once every three months. That and the ease of leveling that came with it.

More and more progression and things to do don't ruin a game. Making everything easier and having crappy content coming out constantly does. SoD has neither of those, as the EXP isn't getting any easier, and the content coming out is far from crap.

But back to the topic at hand! I think that more tomes would be awesome for both the reasons that you stated, and the fact that for DPS classes it would be very cool to have things that weren't damage in tomes. An accuracy tome, or a very specific tome for certain abilities would be very cool.

/agree. Tomes for resists have been mentioned at some point I believe, and tomes for pet resists have been mentioned as well, both would be handy for a variety of classes. Really if there are going to be new tomes I would say we should put an s&r thread up just riffing on ideas for them to see what we come up with. If constructive it might bring us around to new ideas. Wiz did say

The Codex of Destruction is the first of the new EXP books (or rather, book series) that have been discussed in the past.

So I'm going to go on the assumption that there will be new ones. It's just a question of whether they are still on the table at the moment or not. If they are I still think a suggestions thread for them couldn't hurt, just to get the opinion of a variety of classes as to what they'd like to see.

Go ahead and quote me on the "eta plx" part of my OP, Ryu. Wait, no, it is not there. I am asking what kinds of tomes we can expect to see in the future and if they are currently being developed. I agree that advancing your character shouldn't end, but like I said, not many people will just go all out and max out EVERY tome given to them. If the staff wants to wait and surprise the community with what tomes they are going to make, that is fine, just thought maybe I could stir up some discussion with tomes people might like to see and what the staff has been working on.

If you look at EQ on Wiki it shows all the expansions and it's pretty ridiculous how rapid the stuff is. I'm betting WoW is going to do the same thing soon enough.

idk what if anything additional is planned for tomes but besides less resists vs mobs, I would love to see something that raised spell critical %

Spell and melee crits would be awesome. I suggested mitigation to Woldaff which was shot down pretty fast (at least at the 5% per 200 AA). I think damage reduction, attack, other "advanced item effects" could be far game. A way for us maxed to go "overcap". If it was possible, make these tomes possible only to those who currently have max crit, attack, etc. (if it isn't possible, I don't think 200 AA is "overpowering", and yes, I know that not all tomes will follow the 200 AA pattern). Even mana regen might be nice.

Really, I think the Devs can go many places with tomes, and I believe they are going to go many places with them. I am just excited for them to come out so I can have something to do while I farm!

I'd love to see something like +Aggro and -Aggro tomes. I think these might might be less prone to being unbalancing than increased damage (although they do lead to potential increased damage indirectly).

Extra hp or extra mana tomes. Additional runspeed. Faster cast times. Reduced death penalty. Lower FD fail rate. Lots of fun things id like to see

I think a 5 tome set adding a total 5% spell/heal crit would be sweet

A bit less than the power tomes though I'd hope, as 5% overall/overall seems a bit more powerful. Maybe like 100 aa's per tome rather than the current 200 for each tome of power.

you said more but that would be half as much :psyduck:

In case it was confusing I meant 1 200 AA tome per 1% of spell/heal crit with a total of 5 available
