New to WR, few questions

Greetings,

I stumbled accross Winter's Roar recently and I am very impressed so far. Finding it hard to beleive this was all put together by half a dozen dedicated freelancers. Very impressive :)

I browsed through the forums a bit trying to read up on most of the differences, but I have not checked every post. Please excuse me if some of these questions have been asked already.

How different are spells compared to EQLive? So far, I have noticed only very few spell differences (playing an enchanter) some missing spells and insane resists. Is lucy.allakhazam.com valid for spell descriptions?

Tradeskills are different. Is there any information on recipes and trivial levels available? In-game or somewhere on the forums/fan sites.

What would be the best way to submit in-game bugs? Does the in-game /bug submittion work?

Few bugs I've noticed so far:

Right-click looting some items doesn't automatically stack them in your inventory. So far I have noticed this for Bandages, Rations, Water Flask.
Example, kill mob, right click each item to loot. Most stackable items will automatically get added to the current existing stack, but Ration, Bandage or Water Flask will get put in separate inventory slot. Have to stack them manually (dropping the item in the auto-equip box works).

Selling items in stacks to vendors, but not selling the entire stack. For example, if you have 20 Rations and you Sell to merchant it will ask you how many do you wish to sell. If you type in 15 (meaning you should have 5 left), it will sell them all and display 19 left in your inventory. This will update to you not having any left when you zone next time.
I'm not exactly sure on the specifics, but there is something broken when trying to sell parts of a stack to a vendor.

Every time I zone my hair changes and my secondary item slot displays a lantern. I change my hair back to the one I want, re-equip my 2hb staff to get rid of the lantern, do #save but still every time I zone it goes back to some default hair style and I see a lantern in my secondary hand.

Also, the "Display help information on clicks" (something like that) option in the General options gets enabled randomly. The one that displays "Targeted (NPC): Right click target to consider" etc. Just annoying it keeps getting re-enabled.

When I zone into some places my character seems to be facing the zone-out. So if I walk forward I zone back out.
Noticed so far in Echo Caverns/Shadow Haven and Shrouded Isle.

If this wasn't the best post to include some bug reports I apologize and if you could please tell me what the best way for submitting bug reports is, I would greatly appreciate it.

People on this server seem exceptionally nice so far. Very refreshing change :)
Thank you Vero/Vania for all the help and free items. It's much appreciated. Being a newbie for once sure is a change for me :p

Ok. Will try to answer as many of these questions as I can. Many of them you can find by browsing other posts (use search), but here goes anyway.

I didn't play much live, but I do know that some spells have been removed, some have been edited, and there are some custom spells added in. I don't think that there is a list of all of these in one place, but you can pretty much find out individual spells by asking in /ooc. Not sure about your site for information, but I personally use eq.crgaming.com. It isn't perfectly accurate, but it's pretty close. Resists aren't too terrible, they are still adjusting them from recent patch, I think. There are some pretty recent posts about those, so just look at a few of the recent ones and you should find some info on that.

Right now, only Tailoring and Jewelcrafting are implented (and fishing, but that really has very little use at the moment). I don't believe that there is any info in forums on Jewelcrafting as far as trivial levels and such, but for tailoring, try this: http://www.wintersroar.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1082&highlight=tailoring
It isn't perfectly accurate, but it should give you a decent general idea.

What would be the best way to submit in-game bugs? Does the in-game /bug submittion work?

On the main webpage, there is a link called Buglist. Submit bugs there.

Some graphics are a little messed up right now. Don't worry too much about it.

Not sure if this was done on purpose or not, but pretend it was. Only a few zones do it, but just learn those zones and remember to turn around when you zone in. Bancak mines is also like this and I'm sure that there are a few others.

Hope this information helps. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask in game or on this post =)

1.) You will find many changes from live especially for enchanter class. At least from when I played on live. All racial illusions, skeleton and some others are able to cast on others. Charisma is not only important for charming, but you will also find on WR that charisma affects the resists of your spells. As by now you have found out that your basic pet is controllable as a normal mage/necro pet. At the higher levels you will find that C2 and group C2 are higher level than on live. So be prepared for long use of clarity. You will also find two new WR special mezzes. These are able to mez things which are normally immune to mez. The exception being Golems and other "mindless". Three other spells which are 50 plus are Sapping curse, Striking curse and Rending curse. These spells are unresistable and have huge impacts on a creature. Sapping causes a creature to loose all defense abilities (riposte, block, dodge) for a moderate amount of time. It will not stop Enrage however from what I have seen. Striking curse is the melees dream. It allows for all melee damage done to a creature to be doubled while the curse is on it. Rending is similar except all spell damage is doubled. Both Striking and Rending have brief durations. Fear does not work on WR, due to pathing issue at least so far. Pet spells do not require a spell component, however you will find that rune spells do require one. Something also different from live is the AC "Haze" line of buff spells. These have been replaced with illusions spells. (illusion:leather, Illusion:chainmail, Illusion:platemail) The final in the line umbra is unchanged. These illusion spells give the AC bonus of the normal line but also gives the illusion of wearing the named type of armor. These will not stack with other illusions, so you won't be a Werewolf in plate. However, It is fun to be a caster in something other than a robe once in awhile. Hope this helps on your adventures in WR. If you ever have any questions, feel free to send me a tell in game and I will try to answer any question as best as i can.

2.) In addition to the zones you mentioned. Zoning from Warrens to Bancak (nurga) you will be facing the zone back to warrens. You will find several zones which you will be facing the wall. If you have the maps for most zones, it is helpful to use them when you zone in if you are not familiar with which way to go. Over time as you zone you will learn to change facing out of habit. Till then it is something you have to adapt to as this is an emulator. However I think you will find this to be a very enjoyable server.

Look forward to seeing you in game.

Also noticed that Invisibility doesn't have a random chance of breaking, it just lasts full duration each time.

Is the level 20 Tash spell for Enchanters meant to only last about 1 minute instead of 10 minutes like all Tash spells do on EQLive?

Resists are a bit insane. At level 23 with about 130 cha I would sometimes land maybe 2/10 spells on blue con mobs (that's with tash (mr debuff)).

Looking at the code, there appears to be a bug with pre-50 mobs and resists. I'll address this today.

Awesome! Thanks a lot Wiz, it would be much appreciated :)

I've only been playing for two days, I didn't mean to sort of come in and start telling you how to run things :/
Just asking some questions and trying to help out with some bug reports. I hope you don't mind. I know you're very busy as it is.

Please tell me if it's ok to raise any problematic things I come accross, or if I should just stfu and play :)

We encourage all forms of constructive criticism. We can't find every error, so not listening to the playerbase would be idiotic.
