I just start playing a rogue a couple of days ago. I was pick pocketing in newport and when caught ran to the zone line. I went back and forth between N and S Newport a couple of times then I logged. When I got back on I was in South Newport and got attacked by guards that conned dubious, then zoned into N Newport and the guards there were threateningly and attacked me also. I went to Centuar Hills and was attacked by the Barbian in the house as well. I was just wondering how long it took for the heat to go away because its been about 24 rl time since I tried to pick pocket and they are still attacking me.

Only time logged into your character counts to allow heat to lower. Log him in and sit somewhere safe and it should lower beyond the KoS part within an hour or so (that was my worst one). After that, avoid getting seen and if seen make sure they do not kill you as it adds another heat counter.
I had one in which my rogue died (dont pp in the bard guild) and had heat that made me kos for roughly 3hrs game time, could have been a bit shorter as I was off fighting stuff while waiting for heat to go down. But apparently if you actually die, you can get some pretty bad heat that will take awhile to go down.
