NEW PATCHER

Apparently the new patcher is having a problem updating:

When I click continue anyway it just crashes the patcher. Any ideas?
 
yep yep u can. as for patcher not updating not sure fo that problem. but i do know that you are using a different version than i am ...

1.50 is the current version, it shouldn't be finding a new version. Sounds like it may not be connecting to the SoD server properly. When you say it crashes the patcher, do you get an error message? Please post the log file.
 
you really should report error to the technical support forum. this post was mainly here to let people know that there is a new patcher and how to set it up and make it work.
 
So... dumb question.....

I don't see a new shortcut for the patcher, however my old patcher seems to work now (after patching with the new patcher).

So are my old Patcher Shortcuts the new patcher? (don't think so)

And if they are not... How would I go about making a shortcut for the new patcher (since I can't find it in the files).
 
That depends on where you downloaded it to. If you overwrote your existing patcher with the new patcher (perfectly valid), then your shortcuts to the old patcher are now shortcuts to the new patcher.

If not, you have to find where you downloaded the new patcher to, and create a shortcut to it. If you can't find it, just download it again and remember where you put it. ;)
 
I assume you are using windows. Right click the patcher, and click create short cut. Nothing to it.
 
Well I told it to load files into my Eq/Shards Directory like always.

Thiers no new Patchers in the file that I can find. Tryed right clicking on the patcher itself.... doesn't bring up the normal window were you can make shortcuts.


Thoughts?

I just want to make sure Im useing the new patcher :)
 
Easy way:
Find sodpatcher.exe
Hold right-click and drag it where you want the shortcut to go
let go of right click
select create shortcut here

Failed to retrieve new version of the patcher.
 
"Unable to read file from source" indicates that it was unable to download the new patcher from the web site. This is likely why it thinks there is a new version as well. Can you download the patcher with Internet Explorer? Are you behind a firewall?
 
Just uploaded a new version with lots more checking and logging around the http connections. Give it a shot Budizzle and let me know what the log has.
 
well you really shouldnt need to make a shortcut for the new patcher. the new patcher doesnt have to be in your EQ folder. u can double click it anywhere in your comp and it will run just fine aslong as the directory its aiming at is your EQ folder. i downloaded the new patcher to my desktop and i double click on it to run it hehe. if u did for some reason download the patcher to your EQ folder just right click on it and click on "send to desktop" or creat shortcut and drag and drop it
 
Just for the record, I downloaded the new patcher last night, went through setup, patched and logged in to the game just fine. Good stuff.

Found the problem... the new patcher for what ever reason will not overwrite the old patcher when you try to save it. I had to delete the old patcher in order for new patcher to take effect.
