New patcher isn't working?

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I installed the .Net redistributive package... twice just to be sure.

I manually did the patchfiles from the site since the patcher isn't being my friend.

When I run the new patcher nothing happens. I click patch and run and it says 'getting patch list' for hours on end... nothing changes.


Did I miss something?
 
Just a thought but did you update from the windows update site after installing the .net ?
 
and also for confirmation reason wat OS r u using because the

.NET Framework is only compatable with Win2k, Win2k3 and XP
 
No, I think something else is being twichy....I have the new patcher installed on XP Pro, it went in fine - in fact I've been playing for a couple days now on it....including this morning after the matienence was over - but this evening when I try to patch atm I just get a "Getting patch list." message in the patch window just like the OP and it just sits there.

No idea why, only thing I've done different between this afternoon and this evening was reboot.
 
It can also be a problem with DNS, the patcher tries to attach to the www.wintersroar.com website via DNS. It may also attempt to connect to wintersroar.com. If either don't resolve then it might have a problem. Try adding the following to your hosts file:

67.15.24.48 wintersroar.com
67.15.24.48 www.wintersroar.com
 
everyone in my house is having the same issues too. Done everything short of uninstalling eq and reinstalling it. I was on this morning too, but all I did was log out to check something in email and couldn't get back in. Same exact problem, click the patcher, click update and run and get nothing. nada. zilch. zippp!

*sigh* I was just starting to get so attached to this game too.

As said before, update your hosts file. Where is it at? Search your windows folder for hosts.

Its a dns issue, im having it too, but after updating my hosts, it worked.

Jesus Christ people. Computer problems HAPPEN and if a few days of DNS problems NOT caused by WR Staff is going to cause you to be done with DR then get the hell out of here, we don't want you.

ANY massive MMORPG that's even PROFESSIONALLY done, has MASSIVE issues. EQ, FFXI, WoW, etc. All had patching issues.. All had connectivity issues, have all had website and DNS issues.. and WR is free. They have problems and you people start pissing up a tree.

If a few days of problems that aren't the fault of WR Staff at all is going to cause you to want to leave, then Leave. There are people with a little more enthusiasm and reason behind you waiting to fill your spots.

Later tonight I'll place a link to the most updated version of the patcher I have, with modified patchset.txt file. Perhaps you'll be able to work it from there. I won't be home for about 2 hours though... I'll post the link when it's up.
