New Paladin Agro questions

You really shouldn't have to do this with the new lvl 30 aggro spells and such.

It's not something I have to do a lot. But, it does work when all else fails or the trigger happy wizard is running around and screaming like a little girl to get the mob off him. (Ok the screaming like a little girl is just my imagination but they probably are sitting at home screaming)

Oh... and the new level 30 agro spells? These aren't on the wiki unless I'm blind. Time to go searching??

Otcho read paladin and thought shadowknight. You still only get stun at lvl 30 as a paladin.

Yeah hate to break it to you, I meant paladin.

If you cannot maintain aggro at 55 with that and blinding light and whatever stun you may have then your group is just being dumb. Spamming bash helps but taunt is almost completely useless on knights, it does basically nothing unless someone else has aggro and even then its success rate is awful. If root stops dumb wizards from dying then go root happy but in the end its not real aggro and will lead to bad things.

Yup.. I use Gleam of light at the start of every fight and usually again everytime it refreshes, which is 25 seconds. It does a good job of pulling agro of the mobs close by that may get distracted, but it by no means keeps the mobs beating on me as well as I would like. Especially the mob the group is currently focused on killing at that moment.

Maybe I am using it too early?

Still, the biggest problem I see is people just jumping in too early. It's ok if they can take a bit of a beating but a lot at this level cannot do that, and then they start backing away or running away. Thats the main time I root.

I know how to keep my necro from getting agro and still contribute plenty of DPS. I just kind of expected others to know how to do that as well.

I don't want to be one of those obnoxius guys who trys to tell others how to play their characters, so I have to approach this as somehow being my fault until I have tried everything and know without a doubt I am doing everything correctly.

I really appreciate all the input and advice.

Load two blinds (single and ae), load two stuns. Go to town. If the wizzie over nukes and pulls aggro from you anyways, then let him die and find a wizzy that knows his aggro control. (hello, concussion anyone?) Also, use a high-ac shield and bash every time it pops.
It seems the only time my pally has real issues is when the mob is highly magic resistant, stun immune, or when my friend plays his twinked out Ranger, and dual wields instead of use his bow.

If this is not enough the only things remaining really are to get more aggression or get the Melee to hit/ crit chance aa's and put on your 2hander until you hit 59 or whatever is necessary for divine stun. You could find a better one hander but its unlikely outside of raiding, the only one I can think of is the statless high ratio/stun proc sword from; the rat lord in DN. Sadly its not on the wiki.

If opening with gleam and single target blind on everything is causing them to still pull aggro then they are just being twits and there is nothing you can do about it other then tell them how to play/let them die/until one of them has the indecency to complain about your tanking.

I am now pretty convinced this is the case. I only had issues with the one wizard and his group of friends. It got so bad that on one particular tmap the mobs were scattered everywhere and we eventually wiped. During this entire map mobs were running off almost as soon as they became active. I don't see what else this could possibly be but trigger-happiness. I'm gonna steer clear of this wizard from now on I think. Every other tmap group and other group I have been in had very few agro issues.

My shield is AC 70 with the aug, and bash is maxed so that shouldn't be an issue.

I am working on those AAs right now. I have Melee crits 2 and melee to hit 1. The only good 2hder I have is the Soulfire, so I dunno if that is the best. Seems to be according to what most others are using at my level.
