New Monk - Questions?

Thanks for feeding my information demands. To recap, almost all my questions have been answered, but a couple are still hanging open:

1. Does the slow from intimidation proc enough to disregard a slowing class?
2. Are there any low level tradeskill drops (other than bone chips) worth collecting to build some funds? - on that note, is foraging useful? Should I bind a forage key to druid heal?
3. For Monk (and for Druid?) pledge to Althuna or Sihala or something completely different?

Thanks!

1) Not even close. It helps a bit, but no where near what real slow will. At the same time, you could likely handle most content without slow but will take more healer mana.

2) Others can answer this.

3) Whatever alignment you think would be interesting, go with the god that corresponds!

The only 2 deities I recommend NOT taking are enthann and tarhyl. I recommend not taking Enthann because of his alignment, it's neutral/chaotic and is VERY hard to get a good bonus in for anyone that isn't bard/rogue; as a note I took enthann on my monk/shaman and my monk has -2% alignment ><. I recommend not taking tarhyl because that cuts off one of the best raid zones in the game. Also picking the same alignment on both characters will make life a lot easier.

As far as what deity to actually pick? It doesn't matter in the end, it will be somewhat easier, as with alignment, if you pick the same deity, but all the augs are pretty damn close with a few stat differences. I have heard graldash or whatever his name is, is a good monk deity, but again it doesn't matter. If you feel like having the EASIEST deity aug in the game, you could go enthann, I think it took me all of like 3-4 hours to get the deity aug, but again you will be hard pressed to max your alignment bonus.

I got my Beastlord to Deeply Chaotic very easily, and I missed a chaotic hit or two early on in heartlands. The wiki has a pretty good list of quests and dialogue options that give alignment hits. Gradalsh has a pretty entertaining aug/quest too.

Having a duo on the same faction means they can both do the quests together which will save a ton of time. Having them choose diferent paths would be viable either for the fun of it or for alignment issues.

Then again, you could be farming greens in two zones at once if you were on two different factions. Some of the other questing might even out the amount of time though.

Which of the Deity's is the one most easily passed over with respect to raiding? Outside of the augment, which offers the most benefits (with gate neck, zone amenities, etc.)?

Also - is the wiki accurate with respect to the status of implementation of the deity aug quests?

I see 2.5 and 3.0 being talked about a bunch on the forums, are implementation of the remaining aug quests on the agenda with that or should I stick with those already in place?

Enthann is good because you can still raid his zones after pledging to him. Gradalsh is good because his plane is low tier and easily skippable. Others that don't have a raid zone are also popular choices.

I'd recommend you make your choice based on what's currently available and not pin your hopes on a new aug/quest being implemented.

I know that at level 65 the two proc stances are lower dps than stance 2, I'm not sure if the same is true as you level though. In either case it's probably a very minor difference so I wouldn't worry about it too much. You can only have one active stance at a time.

I believe combos work at any level, but you should be able to test that yourself as soon as you get Round Kick. The first kick has to land in order to initiate a combo.

Check the wiki for monk bare fist ratio, which improves as you level higher. Buy a Charm of the Brute in Erudin for 60pp; every +5 Hand to Hand gives your fists 1 higher base damage (capped at +25 skill). The Charm alone probably makes your fists much better dps than anything else you can buy, and there are some other items you can keep an eye out for too... High Paw's Hand is probably the cheapest, I think most/all of the others have high rec levels.

Trade skills are a huge money sink and only worth doing if you are a masochist or plan on spending a ton of time and effort crafting and selling to other players.

One of the better no rec + damage gloves will be the gloves of calefaction. they are fairly cheap (probably around 500pp, but they vendor for around 400). +2 fire damage and some decent stats.

Otherwise I'd recommend getting the disease damage gloves from Cess Pits, The +1 dmg isnt huge but its still pretty good and the stats arent terrible, and it has a yaulp proc.

As others said, try to get the charm of the Brute from the erudin library, you'll have to save up for it but it's worth it. By lvl 20 or so your bare fists will be better than a mithril weapon and quickly become better than pretty much anything you could use until lvl 45 or 50, and then better than that again by lvl 62.

to add as far as tradeskill items go, the easiest and probably most-worthwhile thing to farm is Balsam. You can farm it from the Mielech Crypts which are under the temple (east side of the map near the entrance), but only at night. They sell pretty decently (around 20pp per) and you can make 300-400pp a night cycle by farming it. It's also pretty good xp from lvl ~20ish-28 or so.

For my bard I chose Jayla, neutral/good is easy to get, and you don't have to worry about raid issues. Any deity is a good choice though, just watch the alignment and go with what looks fun. Or just go Pariah and tell them all to screw themselves lol.

From a minmax point of view, I'd suggest Tarhyl for the best aug, if you think that you can afford skipping his zone - most people think you can not afford this tradeoff.

The nextbest bunch of augs are Marlow (Lawful Evil, Plane of Nightmares), Althuna (Lawful Good, City of Mercy), Gradalsh (Chaotic Evil, Plane of Entropy) - all these zones are skippable without much problems.

Any other augs are unfinished (Tarhansar, Sivyana, Shiritri), considerably worse (Jayla, Enthann) or not implemented at all (Malath, Shojar, Divine Light, Pariah). Note that Pariah will give you a flat 15% bonus to all your specialisations, where pledging to an actual god can give you anything between -20% and +20% to your specializations, depending on how close your alignment is to your deitys.

So what I really would suggest is to not worrie about a deity for now, pick wichever heartlands faction suite you, look at your alignment at 65 before attending any raids, and then pick a deity that matches with your alignment.

A big thanks to Susvain! Got me some mithril knuckles and it literally almost tripled how fast I take down mobs.

And thanks to everyone else for the great responses and all the help.

I dont get why tarhyl cares if you kill his minions. He just stands there while your raid slaughters his most favored leaders. Also it makes it so no one in their right mind would swear to him. Too much important loot in ToT and good luck ever getting in a guild if you cant raid there.
