new food/drink rules

I think force feeding then forces you to throw away a main food. Will double check when I get in.

In addition, I never thought of this as an exploit on live until I looked at it from Wiz's perspective. To have the benefits of eating food, you must eat it. It cannot last forever. "I am just gonna look at the stat food and get the benefit while I eat these rations" Makes no sense and it makes sure that no baker will ever sell an item.

Good idea Wiz, just takes some getting used to when changes are made is all.

what this dosent fix is people that force feed to keep stat food forever.... not sure how this helps at all really except for not allowing people to forage at all unless they want to have a stack of food to replace with

Yes it does, force feeding spoils your main food.

But now we get the people who buy the stuff from Rivervale just to sit in Athica so everyone can hear 'Chomp Chomp Chomp. Woldaff takes a bite out of halfling flesh' (or drinks liquefied gore) Gets kind of annoying when 5 people are doing it. :dumb:

edit: every 5 minutes

\/\/ sure why not!

then go to newport??

somehow you will make it through these trying times my brave warrior

im a shadowknight, not a warrior :(

can i ask what the reasoning behind making it an audible emote was?

I was used as an example and I didnt even know that the emotes were public now :dumb:

Aye, its just moderately annoying to see the emote, especially around alot of people =/
I think theres a way to turn it off in your chat messages but I've yet to figure that out.
btw, nothing like going to athica and finally seeing something being spammed more than casinos :D

How else do you expect the mafia to support their drug habits? (this is a reference to the gambling)

first of all woldo its know not now and secondly yes you did i told you about it 2 days ago silly wally come up with a better excusew :toot:

yea i have to admit that is very lame. i have 6 bags and 2 invetory slots without bags (for easy switching weapons/shield) on my hot keys i have 1 for primary, 1 for secondary, and 1 for an empty slot in my inventory and 1 for my 2h weapon in my inventory. i forage something, food goes into my empty slot, becomes my primary, then i switch weapons i want to practice 2h slashing so i take my shield off of secondry, switch it with the 2hander, put the 2hander in my primary, now i have my 1hander on my cursor, drop it on the inveotry slot that has my new foraged food, and then i instantly lose that food. thanks to this rediculous change i am constantly running out of food. im an iksar and im always out of food and water... that is not right. and theres no way i could possibly be trying to exploit stat food either... i dont have any.

i know i could move my food bag to the top slot but ever since my first character in eq on the real servers i have always kept my food bag at the very end of my invetory and even if i could train myself to keep my food in the front... if you have 1 piece of food in your top slot and you pick it up, that means theres a new primary food so that 1 piece of food you picked up just disappears. this is probably the worst nerf to foraging ever because there are so many different kinds of food you can forage and especially for iksars that cant get above 50 you fail a lot so you only get 1 or 2 of each food tops so if you try to move them, switch them, anything, they simply disappear. let me walk you through this scenario...

inventory slot 1 is a backpack. first slot in the backpack i have a stack of rations. then i forage some food. i get vegetables. they fall into the 2nd slot of my backpack. i forage some more, get water, vegetables, rabbit, squirrel, grapes, roots, fruit, and whatever else there is. but also a lot of the forage attempts fail because my skill is only 50 and cannot get high because i am an iksar shadow knight. so my food bag ends up with a couple rations left in the first slot, 1 vegetables in the 2nd slot, 2 rabbit in the 3rd slot, 1 squirrel in the 4th slot... eventually i eat all my rations. new primary food is vegetables (which i only have 1 of) now unless i eat the vegetable, the ONLY way i can keep my vegetables is if i put a non-food item in the 1st slot. if i don't, then trying to move the vegetables will put it on my cursor, new food will become primary so vegetables will be deleted. if i forage a new type of food i dont have it will go in the 1st slot, new primary food, vegetables will be deleted. the only way to prevent is is to constantly rearrange non food items i have in my inventory. but guess what? after i go sell my loot im not going to have enough stuff to fill in the slots and i cant move the food around either without destroying a different kind of food. its SOOOOO annoying.

Well, I'm sorry, but you're going to have to adjust and start keeping your food in a top slot. There is no other way to fix the bug.

What about just removing forcefeeding? Unless it's tied into clicking items/potions. I mean, then you would have to eat what was in your first slot but you wouldn't have to lose stuff when you switched by accident or from summons/etc.

I hate to bump just for a staff response but I thought I had a pretty good idea. It's probably built in to the client, but it's worth consideration.

We can neither remove forcefeeding nor using swap to forcefeed.

Sorry to intrude on this new rule, but isn't it just possible to make food have a forced timer for stat inc food items? Thus making them spoil at a rate that such food would be good for?

I remembered that force-fed food doesn't fill you up as much as food that's eaten automatically, and had another, probably not useful, idea. Could the % of your 'hunger/thirst' that force-feeding restores be made so small that force-feeding to preserve stat food becomes impractical? Or even change that number to zero?

It's probably clientside and therefore on the "can't be done" list, but...
