New Comer Looking for advice on box combo

So me and 2 other friends are looking into playing on the server and we each are going to box 2 chars. I am going to be the tank for our group and a dps class. I was thinking of doing Pally and necro, will i have any issues duoing with these classes?

PS: My friends are going to be playing cleric / ranger and BL / wizzy, from what i know from the original eq this should work out fine with alittle issue on slows since out BL will be doing that.

If you forsee any issue with my combo for duoing or a issue with out little group please let me know.

Thanks in advance for the information.

You group has less than optimal CC and slows so that will make some content hard, but a lot of the content in this game will be severely smashed by this group. Your DPS choice should probably be either necro or monk so you can split.

Yea this was one of the reasons i picked necro so that i could fd pull with him, tanking and playing monk might be alittle hard

I "CC'ed" with my shaman on Live. Mezzing is not the only form of CC. Rooting and snaring also works out very well. To be honest, not that much stuff summons until you get into the higher end exp. zones, so rooting and snaring will work just fine. Anything that you can split as a single will just be icing on the cake. The beastlord slowing should work and the DPS of this group will be above average. The ranger can easily tank for you. You could also have a monk tank if you wanted to go that route instead of the necro, but either way this group should work fine.

the only real problem with root CC comes up when you're trying to do tmaps, so if you guys start attempting them you're gonna really miss a bard or enc for cc

Necro can CC any of the mobs that are actually mezzable on tmaps.

And Necros are usually the better choice if you need 3-5 mobs mezzed and no ench is around.

That aside Pally/Necro is one of the best combos I've ever experienced in the game. They add a ton of utility to the group and excel in undead areas - I'd definitely go with it.

Yea im set on this combination now since it will be really usefull in our group but it will also be a really good duo.

Thanks for all the information

sorry, tmaps are treasure maps, you find a map and it leads you to a spot in a zone where you dig for treasure. as you dig waves of mobs spawn to defend the treasure and it can be 2 or more defenders each wave, they normally summon so non-root cc is really useful

After doing some research i realized my ideal race for pally is a bad idea since dwarfs start out with like 55 CHA. What race would you guys suggest for a pally and a necro. Also Post why if you can.

I have been looking over the races and it seems dwarf just has to many good stats not to use them, ill just have to stack all the points into CHA. Unless someone has a good idea for a race that i missed.

I'd go dwarf and Iksar.

Blind has a good resist mod so it shouldn't be an issue at all.

Iksar as a Necro might be kinda rough but I am somewhat biased - they start with low cha/int but besides the coolness they bring innate regen + sacles (Innate AC, nice for splits).

i was almost set on iksar necro but the pally i was alittle unsure of so ill go with dwarf and just jack up the CHA

If your class can be an iksar you have no reason not to be. Don't make the same mistake I did.

for the paladin, i would suggest high elf. Immunity to charm and 20% mez resistance is A+.

Could go gnome on both! Gnomes get +10% to all kinds of fun things, like haste and focus effects. It seriously adds up. Another option could be erudite for both and gain some more serious advantages with 2.5% bonus on XP rate and skill learning +10%.
