Necromancer Spells and AA's

why do all you necro's want charm? there's a limited amount of undead that we can charm period so its almost a waste of an aa, same with druids, except we have it much better with the ability to FD when the charmed mob dies instead of running like hell. necro aa's are fine, we get mana free FD, instant lifetap, and a free darkness/splurt dot to solo with.

yes, necro's have two sub-par relics, i stated that fact well over 4 months ago in this thread http://www.shardsofdalaya.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5192&highlight=

honestly, the pet heal one is really the only reasonable relic of the two, while the self heal is near useless. as stated above, if you are relying on that to heal you, something is wrong. at 65, when you are relic capable, you are probably grouping on mobs that hit 150+ for AA xp. you draw agro, either you FD or you die, its that simple, there is no lets wait to be healed while this mob is beating on me.

the only thing necro's need though is a 61+ lifetap and DD (besides the undead only ones), as our lifetap line ends at 60 with our ancient spell and the DD for high dps groups so the necro doesnt just sit there and fling maybe two to three ticks of damage on a mob. yes i have actually been in groups to where right when we get the mob pulled, i cast caress of sivyana and it doesnt even last the full duration of 4 ticks. hell even enchanters have a better DD spell than we do.
 
I don't see why we 'd have another one since it's our ancient. It's already no recast and does decent damage (doesn't crit often enough, I have the feeling it only takes Vampiric Lore crit chance and not the spellcasting fury or something). It could be upped just a bit damage but hey others will say "you got succor FD lifetaps good *cough* pets go fuxor".
As far as DDs, we have cryotoxin which is really suxor for its level (omg Magi' offensive DD is soo much better) with quite a long recast (I understand recast for undead DD, but this one...) and often one of the two part is resisted at least for half damage ; I never use it except on fire , disease or magic specifically resisting mobs, otherwise too much chance of failure and Lifebane ftw. This spell could need a look at I suppose...
 
i dont see why the necro's wouldnt get a lifetap 61+. if you look at the spell lines, we get lifetaps at lvl 1, 4, 12, 20, 29, 39, 49, 54, 59, and 60. lifetap is one of the major spell lines necro's get and i feel that there should be at least 1 61+ lifetap. as for the DD, i know we get cryotoxin, and im not going to get into a spell resist debate on it because im sure wiz would storm in here with more accurate facts than what we have, but having cryotoxin as our only DD in the end game against everything besides undead (weee xp area's!! catacomb, elds, and freeport) leaves us lacking when it comes to the end game DD damage (cryotoxin and ancient:lifebane)
 
The one thing I personally don't like is an ancient being 'replaced' by a normal spell. It should never happened, given ancient's rarity.
 
so what about ancient rarity against the rarity of a 63 or 64 spell? whereas most people i know and group with have their ancient spells. but are lacking lots of 63-64 spells.

lets talk about spell lines

magician's ancients are burnout and mod rod
burnout lvls are lvl 12, 29, 49, 55, and 60 (which is 15% more haste than the 55 spell). this could be replaced, but at 80%, its a great spell
mod rod lvls are 44 and 60 (which gives everyone within range of the pbaoe a rod). choice, one rod at a time or one cast and everyone has one

wizards ancients are harvest and destruction of ice
harvest lvls are 34 and 60 (which gives roughly around 700 more mana to have the ancient) ~1000 mana usually about 1/4th a normal wizards mana pool.
ice dd's are lvl 1, 24, 34, 39, 49, 57, and two at 60 (which saves the wizard 70 mana to have the ancient), and is further replaced by the archaic spell at 65.

enchanter's ancients are guardian of jayla and cloak of the unseen.
pet lvls are 1, 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 29, 34, 39, 44, 49, 55, and 60. weee it has more hp's!
invis lvls are 4 and 60 (fixed duration invis im pretty sure) fickle random duration v 7.5 set duration

now, necro ancients are pet buff and lifetap
pet buff lvls are 12, 24, 39, 55, and 60 (10% more haste than the 55 spell) 75% haste is great
lifetap lvls are 1, 4, 8, 12, 20, 29, 39, 49, 54, 59, and two at 60 (which saves the necro 35 mana adds 130 damage, and reduces the time by .9 seconds to have the ancient). still want an upgrade 61+ =P

when talking about not wanting an ancient being replaced by a higher lvl spell, most of the 61+ wizard DD's are drastically better than the ancient spell. when looking at the spell lines, think about the less spells there are in the line, the better the upgrade, whereas the more spells there are in a line, the smaller of an upgrade.
 
Wizards use Taryhl's and Ancient Destruction of Ice for max DPS. The Ancient 'should' be used at level 65.
 
It seems like a dead end on this matter Shadamir,we already have a cool ancient [EDIT I meant two cool ancients] and our lifetap won't prolly be improved before long.
