A bit of yearly insanity involving persons attempting to write a story of at least fifty thousand words within one month's time. They may not simply 'add on' to another story that htey'd been writing. It all must be done within the month of november. Having said that of course I have to answer for the fact that I've essentially stolen from myself, or rather logs I'd left in the roleplay subsection, and while yes I manually WROTE them in(giving me a chance to edit as I went along rather than scroll back and edit) I'm unsure of how close to things i still hold, so my personal goal is 60K words(and I'm well on my way too.

Something I'd like to know. How much of names/events that are in Dalaya are also within Game itself? I ask because http://www.lulu.com has made an offer at giving each author that 'wins' Nano(as in meeting the fifty thousand word mark) the opprotunity to have their story bound and printed in softback form. Why would potential copyright problems matter? Simple. I don't like the idea of stepping on anyone's foot. I've no plans of actually SELLING this story, at least not yet, but I'd like to keep the option open if Wiz or whatever other powers that be here would be willing to entertain the notion of giving me premission to use the setting itself(and even then the setting changes...so it doesnt' stay within Dalaya, do NOT ask. I can't explain it here with a straight face).

If Wiz and or anybody else here sees problems with my thinking than this iwll have simply been an excersize in learning how to better manage time as well as write rather than edit. If any have questions...I'll be more than happy to attempt to answer them as best as i can. Just try to remember that first and foremost I'm not breaking Nano's rules by lifting the setting as fanfics are allowable(as they fall under the catagory of fiction) and that unless I go shopping for a publisher down the road(when I...say...have at least 120K words going, before editing that is) I'm making zero money off of this and will at most probably have lulu distribute imy writing as a freely downloadable ebook.

I really don't want to piss anyone off....

The person who wrote dr jekyll and hyde did wrote it in 48 hours useing about 60000 words and he managed to do it by some drugs.

Well as we all know people of past times are vastly supirrior to the people of today in practicly every respect so bite me for being slow ;). Besides, I have other things that I cannot duck out of such as tending to the horses, helping with my multihandicapped brother, you know, things. that and I don't take drugs 'cause drugs are bad m'kay?

Mostly I'm concerned on if i'm going to have to do an edit on place names and other small details to remove any association with Dalaya. Of course that is ultimatly Wiz's call though and would only provide a minor annoyance if I need to rewrite tidbits. Thankfully the setting is fiarly stock fantasy so nothing too drastic on that count need changing I suppose outside of place names(I am leaving character names thusfar intact as the players have contacted me and are allowing cameo appearances. Of course thsi doens't apply to NPC's so...eh).

Robert Louis Stevenson

At the time of writing the book, Stevenson was possibly being treated with the fungus ergot at a local hospital. While ergot has been known to induce psychoactive experiences, there is no factual basis that ergot was an influence on Stevenson or the book.

According to Paul M. Gahlinger, M.D., Ph.D., "Robert Louis Stevenson used cocaine for inspiration, and is said to have written The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in a single six-day and night binge" (Gahlinger, 2001). If this is based on factual evidence, or is merely speculation, is unclear.

And I counted. 25,654 words

for the most part, places are different in SoD than live, but some are the same. In any case, having your "story" bound and printed (in one edition, JUST for you, no publication) you should have no problem. If you were ever to go on and publish it, I would look at altering the world and making it your own. As far as I know, your stories are mostly your own anyways, just borrowing place names (not existing lore).

P.S. good luck with NaNoRiMo. My cousin is banking on the fact that everybody else will be too busy writing novels to submit anything, and she'll have less competition in getting her novel published =D

Well so far I've touched on nothing concerning exteranl events and or lore and only borrowed, to this point, place and or personal names and likely won't as, lets face it, I've been out of the loop for a year now. that and the Dalaya portion of things is only a transition into a world of my own design. Unsure of how I'll affect this change, but ti will involve something from the other side reaching in. Cheesey? very likely, but as I don't like the idea of having a mary sue on my hands(as I would like to evetnaully resume use of this character...and mary sueisms suck anyway) Its better to go with external forces.

Too much of it is getting edited out for me to validate and claim my free hardcopy, but I won....

Likely won't show anybody what I have till new year as that's when I'll have things fixed to my liking.

Alot of what i'd written was sheer filler mateiral to sub in till I'd managed to get back here and see how the world had progressed as i wanted to keep my writigns as close to this place as possible. Unsure on if i"ll try to get the thing published but wit henough name changes...who knows right?

I'm happy to have participated...but I'm also happy that I'm done.
