Naming Police

I think it would be a good idea to have people send a tell when they want to inform others of naming rule policy. Having it in public channels, including guild chat, only causes embarrassment and arguments. Other than not formally petitioning a complaint about the name, I don't see how this wouldn't be considered being "naming police". It's less hassle to GMs, but only creates friction in public channels that doesn't lead to a solution. Seeing 6-8 people jump on a new player because their name is questionable is really starting to annoy me. Not everyone can be trusted to inform others of the rule with respect, and the rule stating "No stupid names" is really a matter of opinion. It's not anything urgent, obviously, I just thought I'd suggest it.
I'm not trying to have anyone's right to inform others taken away. I just think if you sincerely just want to help and not just make fun of someone or boss them around, then you shouldn't have a problem taking it to tells.

You are not a GM. This means that it is not your duty to enforce the naming policy. Do not complain about other players' names or other minor infractions in OOC, babble on about player X training player Y, or otherwise try to do the staff's jobs. /petition bad names and other rule breeches, and leave it out of the public channels. While we greatly appreciate it being brought to our attention, doing so in a public manner is counterproductive and disruptive.

Ah, yes. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. When I asked in /ooc if it was against the rules to question someone's name, everyone chimed in to berate me. Even a GM informed me (politely) that it wasn't against the rules, that being "naming police" was against the rules. I failed to see the difference. Does this mean that hounding people about their name in guild chat is still okay? I'm not sure if that would be considered a public channel.
