Name changes

Your driving away people not because your nerfing the names, but because 1/2 the management say's it is fine while the other half tries to nerf it. These names are peoples identity and to change that after 10/20/30 even 40 levels is ridiculous. I would understand if they were called crusha, or tiggo bitties, or some shit like that. But Mors? Come on, the guy was great in game and did everything he could to help others and you repay him like that?

What about names such as Liam and Elitra? Those are your GMs for petes sake. The point is if the name isnt offensive or obviously out of tune with the surroundings (bob, fabio, etc) it should not be nerfed.

How about having a private area here where the GM's can ask a single person such as Melwin if a name should or should not be changed, that way there is no overlapping of judgment.

And btw, to the player who submitted all these names (over 20 according to Elitra) why don't you stick to playing and let the GM's worry what is and is not acceptable.

This is a great community, don't ruin it over stupid shit like this.

Well I agree there are names that are offenders that havent been changed. I know the GMs here, not personally but pretty well, and I have been here since march 2004. They arent out to get people, with the exception of maybe melwin. All kidding aside if a name needs to be changed how about we as players just either A. Petition the name and leave it at that or B. Do nothing and leave it to the GMs entirely.


I would also like to make a point that I could go through every persons name on WR and show how they voilate the naming policy. 1 by 1 if you like. Its not hard. However that being said who cares that some obscure word meaning nothing close to the persons religion,class or race is used. If a Gm cares then by all means they have the right to. We as players should concentrate on having fun and not trying to throw every person under the bus.

Need I remind you also we are WIZ's guests here. He is under not agreement to continue the server and he can cease at any time. Maybe at that point you could decide that a name change wouldnt be so bad.

I have to respectfully agree with the people who think the naming policy enforcement has gotten a bit out of control. Some of the gm's (and their play toons as well) have names that would/should have gotten nerfed yesterday. Some of the name changes yesterday were deserved, some borderline, and some made me scratch my head and wonder what the gm was thinking.

That being said, I still like the fact we have name police. Names are a judgement call and there is a big grey area. I just think that enforcement by a few gm's has gone a little overboard. (especially when they themselves aren't meeting the same naming standards they seem to be holding the player base too. And I'm not talking about Wiz here.)

That was tried by more than one person and the threads were locked. Melwin even locked a thread that was posted by someone other than Mors then called the person out by saying he was upset over the changing of Mors name, something he didn't even mention.

As far as me being upset, I'm not. My name didn't get changed. I just feel that with all the work that has been put into this community that some better guidelines need to be in place as far as GM policies.

I love the fact that there are no "Tiggo Bitties", "Portbitch", or other names such as those running around, but one poor guy had his name changed by no less than 3 gms, all of whom approved the new name he chose each time. Come on...
