Hey guys,
I moved to Linux because of the problems I was having running the game under Windows. I had the Nvidia 8800 graphics bug, alot of stuttering under both Vista and 7 as well as graphic corruption.
Moving to Linux fixed all of these, it runs like a dream. However, the one only problem I have is with the mouse. It will work fine for a couple minutes, then it will start to jitter badly. It won't move in a straight line, it only goes a fraction of the distance that I try to move it to, and if I hold the right button down to look around, it stutters, almost making me sick.
I've tried running SoD under the latest version of Wine as well as Crossover Games 9.0.
I've tried deleting my eqclient.ini, my UI_Drazgan_.ini, and switched back to the default UI.
I've also tried playing with the settings in the Wine Configuration Program; emulating a virtual desktop, toggling the checkboxes under the "Window Settings" section.
I've tried playing windowed, full screen, setting processor affinity with both the patcher and taskset -c 0
I don't know why SoD is having the problem. I can play Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 2 and Left 4 Dead 2 with no problems or glitches.
If anyone has encountered this or has a suggestion, please let me know
Thanks
Update:
It seems it's caused by something to do with the fonts.
If I make my chat bar span the screen vertically, I lag like crazy
If I change the font from Arial, the mouse stops lagging as bad. So far, it seems that "Droid Sans" seems the best non-laggy choice. I wonder why it doesn't like certain fonts though...
Also, if I use F10 to turn off my UI, the mouse runs smooth.
I'd like to fix the problem, but at least it seems to be playable after 2 minutes of testing. Hopefully it stays playable and I find a solution to fix the problem in the meantime.
